Supartz drug for osteoarthritis.

Most people don’t age gracefully. As we grow older, our organism becomes weaker and prone to various diseases. We are no longer able to produce enough substances that will keep us health and in shape. Having that in mind, issues that were previously regarded as minor inconveniences become a real hurdle as the years go by. Similarly to most parts of our body, our bones and cartilages also suffer with passing of time. The most debilitating disease that affects our knees is osteoarthritis.

Arthritis comes in many forms. There are about 100 different types of this condition. Among many different variations, osteoarthritis is the most common one. It affect almost one third of North American adult population. This illness attacks our body by destroying cartilage which is present between the bones. Cartilage is naturally synthesized. Osteoarthritis dissolves the cells faster than the body can create them. Without cartilage, our bones are completely exposed. They start rubbing each other leading to creation of mineral deposits between them, inflammation, pain and loss of motion.

Like any other disease, it is important for patient to diagnose osteoarthritis as soon as possible. The condition is degenerative and it requires immediate care. If the patient is not careful enough, he will slowly lose tissue which cannot be replaced by any treatment or drug. Even if osteoarthritis is diagnosed in due time, patient has limited options. In best case, problem will be controlled and further damage can be prevented. However, even if patient starts with physical therapy and use of Supartz, there is no guarantee that the disease will not progress.

According to Medica Depot, people start exhibiting first symptoms in their forties. It is a very common condition for women after menopause. Scientists believe that it is because female body is no longer able to produce enough estrogen leading to deterioration of cells. But, even young people can be affected by osteoarthritis. Sometimes, it can be caused by a severe trauma which happened during sports or some other physical activity. Main risk factors are obesity, physical labor that involves knees, bad diet or bad life style.

When patient starts using Supartz, he cannot expect sudden improvement. As previously mentioned, symptoms can be controlled but not cured. Supartz is injected into knees and it works by replacing natural cartilage that is present between bones. It comes in form of a gel and it is used to relieve pressure, strengthen cartilage and prevent further deterioration. Like most other drugs, Supartz is not recommended to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Also, it shouldn’t be used in conjunction with other knee drugs. People, who are allergic to any of its components or bird products, should not use it as well.

As good as it sounds; Supartz can lead to certain side effects. Common issues are mild irritations, itching and swelling around knees. It can also cause diarrhea, dizziness, nausea, stomach pain, loss of appetite. Some patients have exhibited cough, difficulty breathing and swallowing, stuffy nose, tightness in chests and some other problems.
