MAM Anti-Colic Self-Sterilising Bottle Review

I was lucky enough to receive a MAM Anti-Colic Self-Sterilising 130ml bottle when I went to the Baby Show in Manchester. As I breastfeed the fact that MAM bottles have a silk teat which is supposed to make the bottles be the closest thing to mum and for baby to still feel the softness was very appealing to me. I also really like that the bottle is BPA free. I was very excited about using this bottle with my expressed milk.
MAM claim that the bottle lessens colic by 80% and babies feel relaxed and happy from day one when using their anti-colic bottles. According to their website this is because they don’t swallow any air while drinking due to the ventilated base that works according to a unique natural-flow principle which ensures a smooth flow of milk.

With this bottle there is no need for a steriliser; the bottle, some water and microwave is all you need. Within 3 minutes the bottle is sterile and ready to use. It’s just such a simple system, all you need to do is ensure you have washed and rinsed each part completely after fully dismantling it, then follow the steps and within minutes it’s all sterile again. Below is how you sterilise the bottle according to the leaflet provided with the bottle.

Step 1: Fill the base with 20ml of water (the lid has measurement marks from 10ml up to 50ml which makes it easy to know you are putting 20ml into the base for sterilising).

Step 2: Place the bottle components on top of the base.

Step 3: Screw the bottle on and place the lid over the top of the bottle.

Step 4: Place bottle in microwave for 3 minutes (longer is sterilising more than one bottle) and then you are ready to go with a newly sterilised bottle.

On MAM’s website they have a video available to view about their anti-colic bottles.

I am breastfeeding Tristan but I do try to make an effort to express so that Lee can feed Tristan too with a bottle. Going from breast to bottle Tristan hasn’t been keen on taking milk from some bottles but when we tried the MAM bottle he happily drank from the bottle. Also with other bottles afterwards he has suffered with wind and been in discomfort but he has never had a problem with this when we have used the MAM bottle. For us I have definitely seen an improvement when using this bottle and would recommend it, especially for parents who have babies who suffer from colic. Going from Mum to MAM has been a success for us.

I think the self-sterilising aspect of this bottle is a brilliant innovation, makes sterilising quick and easy and if you are at going out or on holiday as long as you have access to a microwave sterilising bottles is no longer a concern and no need to bring big sterilisers with you. It’s great that you have an anti-colic system and a self sterilising system all in one bottle. I love the fact that they have silk teats and that they are BPA free. Not only are all these features great but the bottle is also beautifully designed, with lovely colours, funky look and a stylish shape. I would not change a thing. I would highly recommend this bottle.

You can get the bottles in 3 different sizes, 130ml (£4.75 each), 160ml (£14.00 for a 3 pack) and 260ml (£5.50 each or £15.25 for a 3 pack). You can also purchase starter sets, which gives you better value for money. The bottles come in a variety of different colours. You get the most out of the bottles due to the fact you can use interchangeable teats and then drinking spouts. The prices for these bottles are from the MAM online shop. You can also buy MAM bottles and other products from retailers who sell baby products in store and online and some supermarkets.

MAM also do lots of other great products, which you can find on their website. You can also find MAM on facebook where lovely parents talk on their wall and MAM also do great giveaways. MAM are also on twitter @MAMBABYUK.

  1. Ooh this is interesting! I used Dr Brown's anti colic bottles but these sound like they're just as good and a little cheaper! :) Thanks :)
