Oral health for the whole family

#AD #GIFTED
Looking after our teeth and mouth is often either a quick moment as part of our daily routines or an afterthought. Many people do not brush their teeth for long enough, neglect flossing, ignore symptoms of gum disease and hate visiting the dentist. But oral health is very important and it is wise to take care of your teeth, gums and whole mouth.

There’s a very important question to ask yourself from time to time, and your answer to it can be very illuminating. The question is, if someone else were to treat you in the way you treat yourself, would you be that person’s friend? If yes, then you likely have a somewhat healthy amount of self-esteem, or you feel accomplished during your daily tasks, or you’re grateful for where you are in life.

Pregnancy - the benefits of a private ultrasound baby scan

When I found out I was pregnant again and that we were expecting a new addition to the family I felt a rush of excitement. But alongside the joy and wondrous feeling of being pregnant from the moment I saw those two lines appear on a pregnancy test I have felt unconditional love and responsibility to care for my unborn baby

With this pregnancy I feel additional responsibility to be healthy and do my utmost to care for the little one growing inside of me. This time around I have to consider the effect that my type 2 diabetes has on my unborn baby. As my health and diabetes can have a negative effect on the health of my baby I feel worry and concern.

A new addition.....

I recently shared some exciting news on twitter and Instagram but until now have not written a blog post about it. So with the news being long overdue I thought I best to pop it down on a quick little post.

As the title of this post suggests, our family is growing and we are expecting baby number 3!

A few months ago when my period was later than normal (thanks to PCOS my cycles are irregular so I can never be sure when it is expected to arrive) and a niggling suspicion I thought it might be wise to take a pregnancy test and was delighted when that second line appeared to show it was positive!

Perifit pelvic floor trainer review

AD|GIFTED

When I was pregnant with my first child one of the pieces of advice I was given from midwives and mum’s in the know was to do my pelvic floor exercises.

Whilst the advice was wise and I made sure to religiously exercise my pelvic floor after having my son I joined the club of mum’s who can’t  jump on a trampoline without a little leakage happening and have to to cross their legs before sneezing.

In spite of regularly doing my pelvic floor exercises, trying Kegel pelvic exercise weights and looking at natural remedies for urinary continence after two children my pelvic floor has never quite been the same as pre-children. Whilst I thankfully only suffer from mild incontinence, as I would like improve it so that I don’t have to worry when sneezing I am always looking for ways to strengthen my pelvic floor.

As a sufferer of urinary incontinence and because there is sadly still a taboo surrounding the condition I am always keen to highlight urinary incontinence and products to help.

Perifit
Perifit is a kegel exerciser with app that is designed to help users strengthen their pelvic floor. As the creators of Perifit believe that your pelvic floor is a priority they designed the Perifit device and app to help heal the pelvic floor.

Urinary incontinence

Even though we live in a world with a generation of people that are more open and outspoken than ever there with more and more issues being spoken about everyday compared to previous decades there are still a number of topics that tend to fall in the taboo category.

Unfortunately many health issues seem to still have a taboo tag. Embarrassment, worry and a belief that it is unseemly to talk about certain issues prevents the taboo surrounding certain health issues being abolished.

One health issue that is sadly still a taboo subject and rarely spoken about is urinary incontinence.

Time off

I've never really been religious when it comes to blogging and social media. I've always had the attitude of its my blog and I will write when and if I want to.

Recently I have been more quite than usual. It was never a conscious decision to have a set amount of time off apart from a few days over Christmas but those few days have turned into a few weeks and I have felt better for it.

With a few birthdays of loved ones in December, Christmas and my anniversary with my beloved I wanted to take time off from blog work to enjoy time with loved ones and cherish the moments without having pressure of blog work floating in my thoughts when trying to make the most of the time.

Test for Tommy - every newborn baby deserves the test that could help save their life.

Imagine if you were about to have a baby. Now imagine you’d heard that there was a test that could be carried out on all newborn babies – a quick, easy and painless test that could help detect potentially life-threatening heart disease. You’d want your baby to have that test, wouldn’t you?

Tiny Tickers, the baby heart charity, thinks so too and that’s why they have created their latest campaign, Test for Tommy. The campaign is named in memory of baby Tommy, who died from undiagnosed heart defect at eleven days old. And by ‘test’, they are referring to pulse oximetry testing.

Dr Anders Foot Care range review

When I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at the beginning of the year I felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster. Angry at myself for not making changes to my health and lifestyle before especially knowing that I was at risk thanks to PCOS, high BMI and gestational diabetes in one pregnancy. Upset and tearful about living with type 2 diabetes. Worried about how this chronic illness would affect my health.

One of the health implications of diabetes that I was very worried about was its impact on my feet. From the basic knowledge I had of diabetes was that if not controlled, proper foot care not followed and medical treatment not accessed for foot problems that some diabetics end up having to have their feet or legs amputated. Fear of loosing my feet or legs overwhelmed me.
