Anylock sealing rods and bag set review.

As I try to be frugal and environmentally friendly I try to limit our food wastage by using plastic tubs and containers to store left over food safely and to keep food fresh.  Even though plastic containers are great for storing food they do take up a lot of space and are not always suitable.  For food in packets I use pegs in an attempt to keep the food fresh and to try and prevent spillages.  Even though the pegs are good for closing packets I find they are not always great for fully securing packets and keeping food fresh.

When HomeStorage4U offered to send me an Anylock Sealing Rods and Bag Set, I jumped at the chance of testing a set out and see whether it would be a great solution for my food storage issues and an alternative to plastic containers.

Within the 12 piece set I received there was 8 bags and 4 rods.

*  2 x-large bags (32 x 43 cm)
*  2 large bags (25 x 33 cm)
*  2 medium bags (19.5 x 26 cm)
*  2 small bags (14 x 20 cm)
*  1 x-large rod (35.5 cm)
*  1 large rod (28.5 cm)
*  1 medium rod (22.5 cm)
*  1 small rod (18.5 cm)

The bags are a great size and I like that there is a variety of different sizes to meet different food storage needs.

The rods and bags look and feel durable, even though I have not used them for a long period of time I think they will be long lasting and withstand regular use well.  To clean you can either wash by hand using a mild soapy solution or in the dishwasher.  I love the fact that Anylock can be used in the freezer and that the bags can be used in the microwave on defrost setting which makes defrosting food that has been stored in the bag easier than having to transfer to another container for defrosting in the microwave.

The rods are easy to use as is the bags and rods combined.  As HomeStorage4U say you simply – “Fold it.  Hold it.  Slide it.  Store it”.  They also describe Airlock as being “the simplest way ever to create a watertight, airtight and odour proof barrier”.

I love the rods.  They can be used with the bags or they can be used separately.  They are great for re-sealing open packs, sealing the packs air-tight once again which helps with keeping food fresh.  By using the roads to re-seal open packs it has also helped prevent the inevitable spillage of food from open packs.

The bags are just as great; you simply fill the bag, fold the bag and slide the rod along the bag creating an airtight seal.  The bags are a great size and are perfect for storing food.

I think the Anylock Rod and Bag set is a great way to store food, help keep food fresh and contained.  I love that the rods and bags are reusable which is great environmentally friendly bonus.  Another plus is that using the set helps reduce food wastage.  I also love that the set is versatile and useable with a huge range of foods and food packs.  Even though the Anylock rods and bags won’t completely replace my plastic containers I think they complement my use of plastic containers for food storage, being a useful alternative to plastic containers and taking up less space than containers do.

Even though I have used the medium and small bags the most the x-large and large bags have also come in handy to store food of a large volume.  It is a shame that the number of rods and bags in the set are not equally but thankfully additional rods can be purchased on the HomeStorage4U website at £10.25 for a set of 12.

The Anylock 12 piece Rod and Bag set currently costs £10.71 which I think is great value for money for a reusable food storage product that helps keep food fresh and enables reduction of food waste which is good for the environment and your bank balance.
