There is something about
this time of year as we welcome spring that I feel inspired to spring
clean and improve the home and garden with some much needed DIY and
TLC.
With upcoming Easter
bank holiday providing us with a long weekend at home as well as
enjoying some family time and Easter egg hunt and activities with the
kids, we have plans to tick off some of the household jobs that have
been on our DIY to-do-list for too long now!
Whilst neither of us can
boast good skills to do with home improvements we do like to turn our
hand to DIY projects and have managed a number of projects and home
improvement jobs without any major disastrous or huge arguments that
has ended up with us breaking up over wallpapering the walls or
assembling furniture.
One of our first DIY
projects together as a couple was in our old home when decorated the
spare room as a nursery ready for the arrival of our first born Bug.
Being a relatively new relationship doing a joint DIY project that
required a lot of work with stripping walls, prepping the walls,
re-wallpapering and painting a unique mural along with assembling
nursery furniture including a cotbed and rocking chair was a bonding
experience for us both.
Fast forward 5 years our
confidence at doing DIY has blossomed and we have completed a number
of DIY projects together from decorating, assembling furniture such
as Bug's recently new bed and Jelly Bean's SnuzPod when he was first
born, and more complex DIY projects such as laying new flooring and
re-tiling.
For the upcoming Easter
bank holiday weekend I have unbeknownst to Lee have plans that we
re-tile our bathroom and fit some stylish new taps to update the
bathroom and make it look a little bit better and give it a hint of
new as we banish the old, dated tiles and taps.
Whilst our confidence at
doing DIY has grown to double-check that we are doing everything
correctly and to help us know how to complete the task to a good
standard I find always useful to have a read a few guides to help and
get some useful tips from. For our planned bathroom improvement this
Easter I have found these DIY advice guides from VictoriaPlum.com
very useful especially their Bathroom Tiles Advice guide and How To
Fit Basin/Bath Taps guides.
Now all I need to do is
surprise Lee with our Easter DIY plans......and if he doesn't seem
that up for the job I will have to bribe him with a chocolate Easter
egg or two.
Do you have any DIY
plans this Easter?
