Blaze and the Monster Machines: Axle City Racers video game review

AD / GIFTED

Outright Games and Nickelodeon have released Blaze and the Monster Machines: Axle City Racers - the first ever video based on the hit animated series Blaze and the Monster Machines - available digitally and at retail for Nintendo Switch, Playstation, Xbox, Stadia and PC.

Join Blaze, his driver AJ and other fan favourites Starla, Pickle, Crusher and more for a fast paced, action packed kart racer experience! With customisable characters with unique abilities to activate, STEM educational features and auto drive with optional simple controls, this game is perfectly accessible to the very youngest players.

Blazing good time

This colourful kart racer game is lots of fun for young gamers especially fans of Blaze.

On your marks, get ready to race with Blaze and his monster machine friends! So buckle your seatbelts and take control of Blaze, Pickle, Darington, Zeg, Starla, Stripes, Watts… and even cheating Crusher! Customize Blaze and his friends in the garage.

Our little Blaze fan loves that he can play as the characters from the hit TV series especially the world’s most amazing monster truck - Blaze!

The vibrant and cheerful monster trucks look great and are in the same art style as the TV series so fans are easily able to recognise the characters and there is a quality connection between the show and the video game.

From Axle City’s colorful streets to the awesome Monster Dome stunt track, the world of Blaze is yours to explore! The track settings are colourful and in keeping with the style of the show. Racers can speed on tracks such as the Axel City Skyscraper Chase, Big Tree Track and Rapid Rock Raceway.

It’s time to race at blazing speed and go for the championship or compete with up to 4 players in couch split-screen mode! Go on a blazing adventure in the different championships such as Axle City Championship, Velocity Ville Cup, Animal Island Race and Overdrive Event.

Championship modes feature a number of races to see which racer tops the leaderboard. My little racers love the challenge of winning the cup in the colourful world of Blaze and the competitive element of playing with friends adds a lot of fun. For speedy fun there is also quick race mode where racers can speed around the track in single races.

The fun keeps on rolling. You can boost, drift, jump and pull off stunts around amazing tracks like Race to Eagle Rock, Stuntmania, and more! Plus power up the fun with upgrades and pump up the power with the Wrench to activate your character’s unique skill and outsmart the competition. The unique character abilities include Starla’s Cowboy Stars that slows down other trucks that race into them, Zeg’s Dino Roar that pushes other racers away, and Pickle’s Shield that temporarily protects Pickle from other powerups.

Younger players will have a blast as they race for glory. Catering for little fans of the show, the video game features a tutorial, different difficulty levels, plus optional Auto-Driver Helper that offers accessible, simple controls ideal for younger players.

In keeping with the popular TV series that teaches children STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) concepts through fun, engaging and musical content, the game also features STEM education features. Educational messages are displayed in the loading screens to teach children fun STEM facts.

Have a blazing time and enjoy the thrilling action in a speed-tastic race to the finish line with Blaze and the Monster Machines: Axle City Racers available now digitally and at retail for Nintendo Switch, Playstation, Xbox, Stadia and PC.
