Car insurance risk factors

Motor insurance is something that all drivers require. When it comes to the premiums you need to pay, rates differ dramatically, and this all comes down to one thing: risk. Insurance is all about risk. You are going to be subject to more expensive premiums if you are considered a great risk.

Dangerous drives

Driving is a lifeline to us. Living in rural Wales where public transport can be sporadic at best driving and having our own car means we can get anywhere and everywhere without hassle.

As the children are getting older the stereotype of parent being a taxi driver is coming true with us having to taxi them to friends parties, playdates, toddler groups and sports classes. Whilst having our own car is a blessing to be able to keep up with the kids’ busy social life as I am driving around precious cargo I make sure to be extra careful and vigilant when driving on dangerous roads.

Here in Wales driving can be rather hazardous. Small country roads can cause chaos and accidents galore. Whilst many roads travel through beautiful surroundings such roads that wind through magnificent mountains and small one-way country roads lead to idyllic beaches, the roads can be very dangerous to drive on especially during summer time when the roads get busier with holidaymakers who are unsure where they are driving and don’t know how to deal with the country roads!

Car accident.

In the midst of all the bad news and experiences we have had to face in 2013 one such experience happened last month when Lee was in a bad car accident.

Whilst snuggled up in bed reading a book at about 11 o’clock my phone started buzzing with a phone call from Lee who was visiting some friends.

Immediately I realised that there was something amiss as his voice was shaky as he started telling me that they had been in a car accident.  My heart was racing with panic and worry as he told me about the car accident and how thanks to adverse weather conditions making the driving conditions poor when he came around a corner as he was heading home with 2 of his friends in the car the road was flooded with water which caused him to lose control of the car which hit into a tree then rolled twice before coming to a stop.

Thankfully Lee and his friends were only battered and bruised from the car accident which had shocked them all.

Unfortunately but less important the car was in poor condition and the police arranged for it to be towed away until our insurance company could collect it.

Due to the damage and age/price of the car it was deemed a total loss and after a pay-out from our insurance company we had to get a new car to keep us on the road.

After dealing with the insurance, before the car was collected I went to go and empty the car and was shocked to see the damage.

Drive well and pay less with Bell Insurance.

Having been a driver and a car owner since I passed my driving test over 10 years ago at the tender age of 17 I know full well the cost of running and owning a car, especially the essential cost of car insurance.

Every year when my car insurance is up for renewal I always shop around and compare car insurance to try and get the best deal and hopefully save some money.  When looking at car insurance the companies I favour are the ones that reward loyal customers with savings rather than price hikes.  I also admire and look favourably at car insurance companies that offer cheaper car insurance to careful drivers.
