My social life and weekend nightlife has changed over the past few years. Since becoming a parent my priorities have changed. Gone are the days of going out every weekend pubbin’ and clubbin’, living life for festivals and being a social butterfly.

Along with a desire to put my children first I no longer enjoy the ‘going out out’ nightlife like I once did. I am now settled with my family and as I no longer drink alcohol I don’t delight for that life anymore. Whilst there are odd nights out to restaurants, trips to the cinema and a festival or two, now I much prefer nights in at home.

Over the past few years I have found myself playing the lottery on a regular basis. Unintentionally it has become part of our routine and I tend to buy a ticket nearly every week whilst doing the food shop. I always stick to only getting 1 ticket a week.

Sometimes when life is hectic and the task of food shopping has driven me mad and I just want to get out of there I do forget to get a ticket and then wait until the following week and hope that our numbers don’t come up that week I forgot to get a ticket - so far no near misses of our numbers coming up and we could have been multimillionaires if I HAD bought a ticket. PHEW!

Over the years we have won a number of times - £10, £25 and £50 quite a few times - but no big, life changing wins yet. Whilst I would not turn away millions of pounds, a win of a few thousands would be delightful and very welcome, whilst a £100,000 or so win would be life changing for us.

Following in his daddy's footsteps, Bug is a little die-hard gamer in the making. He has a passion for games such as Minecraft and Mario Karts, and irrespective of his young age he has mastered the art of gaming showing surprising skills at the games he plays. When he is not enjoying his allotted gaming time instead having his 'watching shows' time he often opts for watching kid friendly gaming YouTubers such as Stampy to keep in touch with the world of gaming, learning new skills and hearing about new fun games to play.

As Bug enjoys games and we like to encourage, monitor and support his love of gaming I make a point of trying to keep my finger on the pulse of gaming especially as unlike his dad I am not a naturally skilled or varied gamer being a gamer person best suited to and just able to handle Mario and Donkey Kong platform type games. As I like to keep up with my gaming son who effortlessly soaks up all gaming knowledge and skills, I do my best to swot up on and check out new games and gaming sites.

One such new site that has caught my eye is Poki portal.

Maternity leave survival plan.

Whilst my maternity leave pre-baby is sure to fly by in a flash and I'll be in the full throes of nesting , I hope to make sure I get some ‘ME’ time and rest (in between daily family life that is) before the baby arrives.

As I hope to get some rest and relaxation before the hecticness of having a new addition to the family happens, I have created a maternity leave survival plan with a few key ideas of how to slow down and take some time out.

Reading

I have always had a love of the written word and love nothing more than getting lost in a good book. But since having Bug and getting lost in the busyness of family life the time I dedicate to sitting down to read a book has become non-existent. Top of my plans for my pre-baby maternity leave rest time is to read a few books, devour the words and get lost in a tale or two.

I also hope to use my rest time whilst on maternity leave to catch up with a few blogs as I have found that I have missed reading a number of my favourite blogs of late due to a lack of time and energy.
