Snow Season Shopping with Simply Hike

Even though I bet as soon as the kids go back to school this September that we have a mini heatwave as we only have a handful of days left of the summer holidays and our family holiday enjoying the beach in the sun seems a lifetime ago my thoughts have turned to winter adventures.

I adore the snow just as much as I love the sun. Holidays in snowy climates are just as amazing as beach holidays. Over the years I have had incredible experiences on the slopes and love the feeling of skiing in stunning surroundings with the sun glistening on the crisp white snow.

Should I Snow or Should I Go? - Win a snow or beach holiday with Cosmos Holidays.

After the drab, dreary and very stormy winter we have had in the UK this year with powerful winds, relentless rain and ferocious tides battering the country for weeks on end I am sure many people across the country have been hoping and praying for better weather.  I can imagine for many people the thought of jetting away on a holiday abroad to get some much needed respite from the bad weather has flitted across their minds on numerous occasions.

I for one have found myself daydreaming of a holiday on numerous occasions over the past few weeks, imagining being able to jet away for a long, relaxing and fun filled family holiday abroad, leaving the drab wet and windy weather behind for some much nicer weather.  Unfortunately for us a fun filled family holiday abroad will have to remain but a daydream for now thanks to a meagre looking bank balance.

As our bank balance will not stretch to a family holiday abroad at the moment but the desire to go on holiday is still there, will images of holidaying abroad popping into my head I have been entering competitions where there is a chance of winning a holiday.

Luckily for people like me who dream of a holiday abroad but can’t afford to jet away, Cosmos Holidays are running a competition to win either a snow or sun holiday.  Entering is easy, simply ‘Like’ their Facebook page and take the ‘Should I Snow or Should I Go?’ quiz and answer 7 questions to find out whether you are a ‘Snow’ or ‘Go’ personality to get entered into the prize draw to win either a skiing holiday in Austria or a beach holiday in Sharm el Sheikh.

Bye bye storms and flooding? Hello snow??

Fierce storms battered the UK as we said a wet and windy goodbye to 2013 and a stormy hello to 2014, with Mother Nature leaving devastation in her wake thanks to torrential rain, fierce winds, flooding and tidal waves the country has been storm ravaged again and again over the past few weeks.

Storm surges have savaged miles of coastline with the power of the storms having collapsed cliffs and wrecked sea fronts with homes and businesses along the coast being flooded and battered by the wind and water.  Thousands of acres of countryside have been left underwater and rivers have overflowed leading to immense flooding throughout the country with hundreds of homes flooded across Britain.  The misery of the storms has seen hundreds of flood alerts being issued with villages and towns being evacuated for safety.  Devastatingly the damage caused by the storm has not been limited to the coast, countryside and homes as sadly lives have been lost due to the bad weather.

After weeks of immense storms the severe weather warnings issued by the Environment Agency have at last expired but the risk of further flooding remains due to the impact of the vast rainfall already experienced and further forecasts of rain with water still draining into rivers which could lead to further overflowing of some rivers.
