I am a
bit of a big kid and love children’s animated films. Now that I am a mummy I’ve got the perfect
excuse to watch children’s films and I love snuggling up with little man
watching a great film together.
I am a
huge fan of Disney and love the classics especially Beauty and the Beast, The
Jungle Book and The Lion King. I also
have a particular fondness for Pixar animated films; I absolutely love Finding
Nemo and have watched it countless times, I also love Toy Story and the
brilliant Toy Story sequels as well as Cars and Cars 2. DreamWorks Animation have also made some
loveable animated films that I thoroughly enjoy including the popular Shrek,
Shark Tale and a favourite of mine Madagascar and its sequels, Madagascar:
Escape 2 Africa and Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. One of my all-time favourite series of
animated films is Ice Age.
I love
the Ice Age storylines and have a fondness for the loveable characters. I think Ice Age is great for children and
adults alike; with storylines and amusing moments that all generations can
enjoy. I admire the amazing animation
and love how they have made the characters and striking scenes come to life in
a colourful and vivid way.
The other
day when it was drab and dreary outside, I lit the fire and with the roaring
fire keeping us cosy, little man and I snuggled on the sofa together and
re-watched Ice Age 3. Little man isn’t one
to be glued to the TV, he much prefers to be playing especially playing outdoors,
and there are only a few shows and films he will actually stay still to watch
with Ice Age being one of them. We had a
lovely afternoon cwtched together watching Ice Age 3 with little man transfixed
to the film. I am eagerly awaiting the
DVD release of the latest instalment in the fantastic Ice Age series of films
and cannot wait till I can get my hands on a copy of Ice Age 4: Continental
Drift so I can have a lovely few hours cuddling little man as we watch Sid and
his friends go on another adventure.
As I have
such as fondness for Ice Age, I was excited when I heard that Ice Age is
hitting the big stage. I thoroughly enjoy the theatre and live shows,
especially as being part of the audience the atmosphere of a live show enhances
and adds to the magic of a show. Combining
my love of Ice Age and its characters with the thrill of a live show; “Ice Age
Live! A Mammoth Adventure” is exactly my
sort of thing and I imagine it will be an amazing show to watch.
“Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure” is a pioneering live show created by Twentieth Century
Fox Consumer Products and Stage Entertainment Touring Productions. The show brings to life favourite Ice Age
characters as they go on an exciting adventure.
Inspired by the first 3 films of the Ice Age animated film franchise
this live show has an all-new fun filled storyline.
The loveable
characters from the film’s who will be making an appearance in this stunning
performance include Scrat, Manny, Diego, Sid, Ellie, Peaches, Buck, Eddie and
Crash as well as several new characters created for the live show. The characters have been designed to look
like authentic animals, all having realistic facial expressions and
synchronised lips that will speak and sing to the audience. With realistic and impressive detail, the
characters are brought to life which is sure to excite and overwhelm audiences. Not only are the characters created to look
realistic they are also giant in size.
Manny the Mammoth has an overwhelming standing height of 3.6m, a length
of 4.2m and a width of 2.5m, and new character Shadow who is an evil bird has a
wing span of 4m.
During the
show the characters experience an exciting adventure as they embark on a
journey of discovery. This magnificent
show will be brimming with dazzling effects, catchy songs, action-packed
thrills and mischievous humour. The character’s
exhilarating story is brought to life in a set that is a spectacular recreation
of the Ice Age world with the use of realistic props, video, lights and special
effects to create rocks, caves and icebergs.
This splendid
live show is a mammoth task with a world-class creative team and co-directors
Guy Caron (Cirque de Soleil) and Michael Curry (Lion King, Cirque du Soleil)
working their magic and artistic genius to create such an impressive show. Their creative genius shines through as they
use gravity-defying acrobatics, breath-taking costumes and the clever set
design of British born David Shields to bring the magic of the Ice Age films to
life on the stage. They also masterfully
interweave the new storyline with the music and lyrics of Ella Louise Allaire
and Martin Lord Ferguson.
Here’s
what the talented co-directors say about “Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure” -
“Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure is a fantastic piece of storytelling
and it combines two of the most important things in my life – animals and
comedy,” says Michael Curry. “I’m
really looking forward to bringing the Ice Age herd to life – they’re going to
have so much fun in this live show! We are using the very best combinations we
can bring to the table, with human actors, comedy, Kung Fu, ice skating,
circus, costume performers and video illusion to combine many different forms –
whatever works best to tell the story.”
Guy Caron was Cirque
du Soleil’s first Artistic Director when the company was created in 1984 and is
bringing his expertise to a new type of show, claiming, “For me, it’s a family
show – it’s for the kids, it is for the parents and it is for everybody.”
“Ice Age Live!
A Mammoth Adventure” celebrates its world premiere at Wembley Arena on the
2nd of November 2012, launching the beginning of a 5 year global
tour that is planned to visit over 30 countries on 5 continents. Before the world premiere there will be preview
