I’ve
written before about Rockin’ Baby’s amazing charity initiative Child To Child
where for every item of Rockin’ Baby clothing purchased the company donates an
item of clothing from their colourful Hero collection to children from impoverished
backgrounds in Uganda. As I think the concept is amazing and I admire Rockin’
Baby even more for their fabulous charity initiative I was delighted to hear
news about them making a clothing drop of the donated clothes to children in
need.
World’s
First Child To Child Kidswear Charity makes inaugural clothing drop with Rockin’ Baby donating their first 2000 items of clothing from their Hero collection of
clothes to underprivileged and disadvantaged children in Uganda.
As part of
their Child To Child Mission in parternship with ChildFund International,
Rockin’ Baby have handed out 2000 brand new items of childrenswear, including brightly
coloured and comfortable shorts and t-shirts, to children in villages across
Kampala.
Thanks to
the sales of their first childrenswear collection, which launched in Autumn/Winter
2015 Rockin’ Baby are able to help make a big difference to the lives of
children across the world, starting by helping desperate children in Uganda, by
providing them with much needed clothing.
In Uganda,
the location for the first ever clothes drop for the charity, a number of the
children and their families were greeted by Rockin’ Baby’s founder Kathryn
Wiley who wanted to see the results of their hard work in person and meet those
who were in desperate need for essential clothing. Here is what she had to say
about it -
“It was an extremely humbling experience just
to be finally sitting in Uganda with ChildFund and the local organisations that
facilitated the trip. Before we’d even delivered the first batch of clothing we
were told that the mothers of the children who attended the Early Childhood
Development Center in which we were giving, had been sitting in a tent waiting
for several hours. We hurried as fast as we could to greet them – anxious
teachers, mothers and children who could not wait to receive something new. It
was a very special day. Approximately 85-90% of all Ugandan people wear used
clothing. Clothing that has been passed down over many years. The first thing I
noticed when I met the children was their school uniform. Dirty, full of holes,
2-3 sizes too small, and barely on some of them. It was evident that since they
are required to wear uniform for school, it was for most, the only outfit they
own.mIt was wonderful to see how the new clothing uplifted their spirits. The
children immediately changed infront of me, finally feeling good about
themselves, no longer embarrassed about the clothing they were wearing.” - Kathryn
Wiley, CEO and Founder of Rockin’ Baby.
The next
drop of clothes for this brilliant charity campaign will be delivered to
children who have been affected by Ebola.
For every
item sold and item of clothing from the Hero collection is gifted to a child in
need across 30 countries globally. Rockin’ Baby’s message is – ‘You Buy, We
Give’
If you
want to support this very worthwhile and vital cause that gives children in
need, who have never owned a new piece of clothing before, brand new clothes
that are the same quality as you buy then take a look at the Rockin’ Baby
childrenswear collection. The new Rockin’ Baby Spring/Summer 2016 range is
available online from the 1st February 2016.
