Shabby chic is described
as being a style of interior decor that embraces furniture,
accessories and soft furnishing that are or look pleasingly old or
slightly worn. This style often features mismatched furniture and
accessories that look beautiful together. As well as old or slightly
worn furniture shabby chic style often also incorporates natural
colours and subtle tones, textures, fabrics, antique items and
statement pieces that a strong visual impact.
Shabby chic is warm,
friendly and homely. It is often described as farmhouse or cottage
style and as it bears an uncanny similarity to French country shabby
chic style and decor pieces work well with French style furniture and
accessories.
As I grew up living in a
farmhouse that was pure farmhouse style it is no surprise that shabby
chic is a style that I have fully embraced now. I love the style and
incorporate shabby chic pieces into my home. What I love the most
about shabby chic that it celebrates imperfection and highlights the
beauty in worn pieces as well as displaying the charm of natural
tones and textures.
Whilst I cannot claim my
house epitomises the loveliness of shabby chic throughout, I do love
to incorporate the odd piece of shabby chic, French country and
antique here and there so that I can benefit from the delightfulness
of worn, ornate and well loved pieces. As such I am always on the
lookout for new items, and as well as trawling through charity and
antique shops that can be a haven for shabby chic furniture and
accessories, I always keep my eye out for new websites that are a
treasure trove of furniture and accessories that encapsulates the
charm of shabby chic or French country style.
One site I have fallen
in love with is Dandelion Interiors.
The site is filled with
beautiful specially selected home decor accessories and furniture.
With a lovely range of antique and french style items the site is the
perfect place to get items for that charming shabby chic look.
Here are a few of the

with to inject it will a little shabby chicness. -
