Forget relationships this Valentine’s Day: Self-love is set to be the order of the day

BLOOM Gin is predicting this February 14th will be the nation’s most ‘self-loving’ Valentine’s Day yet, and is calling for women everywhere to embrace the trend, and take some quality time out for themselves.

Having analysed internet search data, BLOOM Gin discovered yearly interest in ‘self-love’ (defined as an appreciation of one's own worth or virtue), peaks every Valentine’s Day, increasing a staggering 360% since 2017.

That means the famous day of love in 2022 is on track to be the most popular day EVER for self-loving – and why not, after two years of lock-down Valentine’s Days? 

However, despite this, it appears women STILL aren’t making enough time for themselves. BLOOM Gin questioned 1,000 women to discover whether ‘self-love’ was a conscious part of their lives.  

Despite the overwhelming majority (94%) recognising it is important to show themselves some self-love (defined as an appreciation of one's own worth or virtue), less than half (46%) actively put aside time to do this*, with 11% making no time for themselves at all, creating a self-love ‘gap’. 

Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to celebrate self-love – especially given the benefits a little bit of personal TLC can bring with 62% of women who feel more empowered after setting aside time for themselves.
