Reasons why vinyl flooring is a great choice for busy households

#AD

When designing or renovating a home there are many design aspects that need to be considered such as the lighting, the style and colour of walls including whether you opt for paint or wallpaper or a mixture of both, and furniture and accessories. Another important feature of a room that needs to be thought of when designing a new home or giving an existing home a complete redesign is flooring.

Walls, light fixtures and furniture are often prioritised with lots of thought put into getting the right design choice for the space whilst flooring is often overlooked. But don’t overlook flooring. Not only should you consider the best flooring for your practical needs but flooring is important in interior design as the type and colour/style can completely change the look and feel of a room. Plus as flooring is not something you change very often you want to ensure you get the right flooring for your home style and practical needs.

Whilst there are a wide variety of different flooring types available, all of which have their own pros and cons, when it comes to a busy household especially a household with kids vinyl flooring can be a great option. The beauty of striped wallpaper

Stripes are a versatile and classic pattern. In fact stripes are a staple, reliable pattern that are extraordinarily versatile and attractive. As stripes are one of the most iconic patterns, they have weathered changing styles and trends over the decades and been used in different settings. Familiar stripes have been predominant in the fashion world, showcased in architecture, seen in modern advertising and incorporated into interior design.

Not only do stripes adapt beautifully to soft furnishings such as bedspreads, curtains, cushions and settees they are also a wonderful pattern to decorate walls with.

Striped wallpaper is a great wallpaper design to adorn walls. Decorating with striped wallpaper is an easy way to get a crisp and pleasant ‘decorator’ look, being ideal for home improvements. Flooring options for different rooms of your home

Whether you are renovating your existing home or selecting the finer details of a new build, one of the biggest dĂ©cor decisions you can make for home improvements or a new home can be what flooring to have.

The type of flooring you choose can greatly impact the style and feel of a room. Also some types of flooring are better suited to certain rooms compared to others. With that in mind it can often be the case that you choose different flooring options for different rooms in your house rather than have the same flooring throughout.

Transforming a room on a budget

When we first moved into our current home we went all out on decorating the children’s bedroom. Apart from finding a home for our furniture and other worldly possessions the other rooms in our house got neglected.

Fast forward a few years and nothing much has changed. Busy lives and lack of money has meant we haven’t got around to decorating any of the other rooms which look rather drab, boring and uninspiring.

Recently we redecorated the children’s bedrooms - lucky boys getting their room transformed again whilst our bedroom has never been touched. We painted their room, moved around furniture, upcycled a few pieces of tired looking furniture, decluttered and added some new eye catching accessories such as modern rugs. Even though we did not do much and no radical changes such as flooring or new furniture it was amazing how the room was transformed.

Top Ways To Update a Small En-suite

Owning a small house or flat needn’t mean compromising on life’s luxuries. Many people assume that an en-suite is a privilege only afforded to those who live in large, spacious homes but that’s simply not true. There’s very little to stop you adding a beautiful en-suite to your master bedroom or in fact to any bedroom if you don’t mind giving up a little floor space or perhaps even a cupboard.

En-suites are a great solution for larger families and particularly those with a teenager in residence. It might be that the family bathroom is no longer enough to cater to everyone and it makes sense to add an extra in the form of an en-suite. A well-designed en-suite, even a small one, will most definitely add value to the property in addition to making it more comfortable to live in.

Things to consider when designing a room

Whether you are redecorating rooms within your existing home or renovating a new home before moving in, creating a beautiful space that works well can be hard work. It is not a simple matter of seeing a photograph of a gorgeous interior in a magazine or online and then recreating it as that interior design may not work in the space that you have, been affordable for you or suit you daily lifestyle.

Don’t let that put you off decorating though as you can have the room of your dreams; designing a room that suits your style, daily lifestyle and budget is more than possible if you put your mind to it. Here are a few things to keep in mind when decorating or renovating:

Creating The Perfect Family Home

There’s a difference between a good home and a good family home. In order to make a house that works for an entire family, you need to create a warm, welcoming, and homely environment. It needs to work for all individual residents of the household but also for the family as a whole. Obviously, you can’t re-design the house to suit the taste of your five-year-old because the place would probably look a little... “interesting” if that were the case. But you should certainly be striving to create an environment that feels like home for everybody in the family.

Curtains or window blinds??

Recently we have been refurbishing our living room. Since we moved in it has had very little attention to it. A few ornaments and pieces of furniture have changed places or been moved to another room as we settled it but since then nothing has changed. It has been a comfortable, lived in space that has served us well but it has been lacking in style and a sense of character.

As we have decorated and done home improvements in all the other rooms of the house, the time has come to turn our attention to the living room.

With it being a room that we spend a lot of time in especially together as a family it is only sensible that it is a room that we enjoy spending time in and love the look of.

Home interior design styles

When Lee and I moved in with each other after a long distance relationship it soon became apparent that whilst we shared many interests and a love for each other, our home styles and decor tastes differed greatly.

Over the years it has been a struggle to combine our differing styles and often there has been a lot of compromise when decorating our home and making home improvements.

Magical Disney bedroom ideas

We currently live in a 2 bedroom house. To help make it feel not so cramped the dining room is a dining room and toy room combined. Thankfully the dining room is big enough to accommodate both uses.

With our home only having 2 bedrooms the boys have to share a bedroom. The bedroom is a large room so both of their beds fit in with ease along with bedroom furniture for their clothing and a few toy boxes. Even with all the bedroom furniture they also have plenty of room to play, snuggle up to read a book or watch a show on the tablet.

One of the downsides of the boys sharing a bedroom especially as they have an age gap of 4 years is that they want their bedroom decorated differently. Until now we have decorated their section of the bedroom to their likes so the room is split with 2 different decors.

Now that Jelly Bean is 2 he is outgrowing his nursery style jungle animals decor so we have been thinking about redecorating. With that in mind I have been trying to think of a theme that would suit both of the boys so that the room is no longer split with 2 opposing themes.

Disney to the rescue!!

Home improvements that can’t wait

Whether you’ve just moved into a new property or have been living in the home for several years, you’ll know that the process of upgrading the home never ends. By the time you’ve finished one decorating and improvement cycle, it’s time to start the next. Thankfully, most projects are focused solely on the outcomes rather than the timings. However, there are some that simply cannot afford to wait.

If any of the five issues below need sorting in your home, it’s vital that you so with immediate effect. You’ll be thankful in the long run.
