Love and money

When two people find love with each other they become linked in many ways. They spend time together from social outings to holidays to daily life. They often live together, perhaps buying a house or renting a new home together. Some couples decide to start a family by having a baby together or adopting.

Why I aspire to be like my mum

My mum and I are very close. Since I was a child we've been as thick as thieves and as I got older I came to consider her as a close friend. Even now with us living miles apart, over an hour's drive away and in two different counties, we speak everyday one way or another and regularly meet up in person at least a couple of times a month.

She is my rock. She's been there for me during the good times and the bad. There for me during all the momentous milestones of my life.

I think my mum is awesome and in many ways I aspire to be like her. If I could be half the woman she is I would be happy. Here are just a few of the reasons why I aspire to be like my mum.

Valentine’s Day - What do women really want?

With February swiftly approaching so is the annual holiday of Valentine’s Day. The day when it is traditional to send a card to current or prospective Valentines.

As with most traditional, seasonal holidays the idea of Valentine’s Day has become very retailer driven and materialistic. The expectation of it being simply about an anonymous love themed card being sent to a loved one or a desired Valentine is overlooked by many for more extravagant declarations of love.

Gift giving.

I love Christmas. There is something very uplifting about the festive season. I love the magic of Santa and visits to Santa’s Grotto. I love seeing the joy of Christmas on children’s faces. I love sparkling decorations and twinkling Christmas lights. I love Christmas markets and Christmas shopping. I love Christmas inspired crafts. I love Christmas treats. I love everything about Christmas!

One of the things I love most about this magical time of year is gift giving.

Whilst I am a believer of being there for friends and family all year round and that Christmas should not be the only time to be kind and give to others I do love the excuse of Christmas to give my loved ones a thoughtful gift that I know they will love.

Even though I prefer giving to receiving gifts, I do love it when I loved ones are kind to give gifts to me too. Over the years I have been fortunate enough to receive a number of lovely gifts that I have loved receiving.

Last minute Valentine’s Day gift ideas.

Even though Valentine's Day is very nearly upon us there is still time left to organise a thoughtful gift for your loved one. If you want to get a gift instead of or as well as the usual flowers, chocolate or perfume why not think about getting a gift subscription or experience to give to your Valentine tomorrow.

Thanks to the internet there's still time to buy a subscription or experience day ready for a day of romance tomorrow.

Whilst there is not enough time for a subscription package to arrive in post or have an experience day planned for tomorrow, to showcase your thoughtful gift of an experience day or subscription you could print off a little certificate showing what present awaits them.

As there are so many experience days and gift subscriptions available on the market there is something for everyone so you are sure to find the perfect gift for your loved one.

To get you going here are a few ideas –

Magazine subscription
If your loved one enjoys reading a particular magazine on a regular basis why not buy them a subscription of their favourite magazine so they can have it delivered straight to their door month after month. A magazine subscription is a Valentine's gift that can be enjoyed on a regular basis and one which will remind them of your love and thoughtfulness.

Experience day
Giving your loved one the gift of an experience day can be a very thoughtful and well-received gift. With a huge array of experiences to choose from including pampering, driving, food and drink, adventure, photo-shoots and makeovers, you will be able to select the perfect experience for your Valentine. Whilst the gift cannot be experienced on Valentine’s Day the upcoming experience will be something that they can look forward to.

Subscription Box
A subscription box is a gift that not only shows you love and care for your loved one on Valentine’s Day but that you do so all year round as they get treated to a fabulous box perfect for them month after month. With a huge choice of subscription boxes available including food, drink, beauty and fashion why not let My Voucher Codes and their Valentine’s Subscription Box Finder help you find the perfect subscription box for your Valentine.

So with the clocking ticking down to Valentine’s Day get looking for that perfect last minute yet thoughtful experience day or gift subscription for your loved one.

Have you bought your Valentine a gift subscription or experience day?

Gifts for the man I love this Valentine's Day - Debenhams Valentine's Day blogger competition.

Whilst we do not celebrate Valentine’s Day with gifts, trinkets of love or by going out for a special night out – mainly due to money and lack of a babysitter – I do love to treat the love of my life when I can.

So when I recently saw a Valentine’s Day blogger competition by Debenhams where entrants had to create a moodboard of gifts you would love to give the man in your life from Debenhams this Valentine’s Day it gave me the perfect excuse to dream about what I would love to get my man if money was no object.

Valentine's Day - what it means to me.

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching it can be hard to ignore the signs everywhere, from love inspired gifts and cards adorning shops to talk of Valentines on social media, hinting at the impending day of romance when love is in the air.

For some people the day can be one they dread, some people are passionately anti-valentines, others enjoy a Galentine night in with the girls, whilst many loved up couples enjoy the day to its fullest by sharing gifts with their loved ones and having romantic time together.

Having experienced the dread of valentines whilst single as well as having enjoyed the excitement of the love-filled day when in the first sparks of a relationship, I have experienced both sides to the day – the tear-filled, single and lonely side of dread and the romantic, loved-up side.

Now that I am in a relationship I thankfully no longer experience the feeling of being single and lonely on Valentine’s Day when it feels as if the whole world around you is loved-up. But whilst I have enjoyed special and romantic Valentine’s days with Lee after years together and a child the day for us has changed from a day of being in a romantic bubble together, going out to celebrate the day and giving each other trinkets of love and Valentine’s cards to a day where we simply appreciate each and are thankfully that we have each other.

Memories of baby Bug, washing baby clothes, caring for sensitive skin and supporting Tommy’s #Mums4Tommys #shop

When I was pregnant with Bug I felt like the luckiest girl in the World. All of my hopes and wishes of being a mum one day were at long last coming true as Bug grew inside of me.  As my baby bump blossomed I loved the process of preparing for the arrival of our baby.  I loved shopping for baby products; in particular I loved handpicking adorable newborn baby clothes ready for our arrival. During the last few weeks of my pregnancy as my nesting instincts kicked in I felt a true sense of satisfaction lovingly washing baby clothes.
