We love Halloween. Whilst this year might be missing trick or treat fun, we are making sure not to miss out on spooky delights. We’ve visited a pumpkin patch, carved pumpkins, decorated the house and plan on having a Halloween night at home watching family friendly spooky films and munching on sweets and popcorn. We have also been getting ready for Halloween with spooky Halloween reads. Our latest spooky book perfect for Halloween is The Scary Book.

As a family who loves books and have little bookworm children books are an integral part of our daily lives. As we all love books so much and the boys enjoy their daily stories, we tend to enjoy seasonal books at various times of the year. Now that we are in December and Christmas is fast approaching the time has come to adorn the bookshelves with festive books.

Thanks to Little Tiger Press we have some new festive books to add to our collection this year.

Book review - The Rabbit Who Wants To Fall Asleep.

Bug has never been much of a sleeper and whilst he has improved on how long he sleeps at times we still find it difficult getting him to relax and calm down enough to get to sleep at a reasonable hour.

As I am always keen to improve his bedtime routine and sleep, we recently tried out the book - The Rabbit Who Wants To Fall Asleep.

Having read a number of enthusiastic reviews about the book, with many parents declaring that it miraculously gets their child to fall asleep I was intrigued to see whether it would work on Bug.

Peekaboo books - Little Tiger Press.

Our love of books has once again been quenched by Little Tiger Press and their upcoming new books from the Peekaboo collection.

To be published on the 10th March 2016 are 2 new books – Peekaboo 123 and Peekaboo A to Z. Aimed at little ones aged 1-4 years and fun books by illustrator Gareth Lucas.

Both books are equally beautiful, with the fabulous illustrations from the talented Gareth Lucas teaming brilliantly with the humours alliterative text. The board books are chunky with thick pages which are ideal for little hands to hold and turn, with both books featuring large sturdy flaps.

To Baby, With Love books.

As we love books and enjoy imparting our love of the written word to our children both Lee and I are passionate about reading to and introducing books to little ones from a young age. Books are part of our daily life and were introduced to Bug and now Jelly Bean when only month’s old. From early on reading stories to our little ones became a lovely time for bonding and introducing them to books, words and stories.

Reading to Bug from when he was month’s old is something we have all enjoyed and now at nearly 5 he is a little bookworm. He still loves storytime with us and is relishing learning to read himself.

Now that we have a young baby in the house again our bookshelf is once again filling with baby books which sit nicely next to Bug’s books for pre-schoolers and young children.

Thanks to Little Tiger Press Jelly Bean has a lovely new set of baby books to fill his space on the bookshelf.

Since those first early days a little over 4 and a half years ago Bug has always been a poor sleeper. When he was a baby he was the ideal candidate for being the spokesbaby for showing that the saying ‘slept like a baby’ commonly should not mean that sleep was good as he hardly ever slept, waking often during the night…..that was if he even got to sleep!

Fast forward 4 years and he still has issues with sleep. Bug often fights going to sleep, finding every excuse under the sun to delay bedtime and even once in bed he seems to find a struggle to switch off and slow down to relax to sleep.

As Bug finds it a task to calm down for bedtime we are always keen to try out tips and tricks to make bedtime an easier and calmer experience so that he drifts off to sleep earlier without any drama. With that in mind we cannot wait to try out the ground-breaking, No.1 bestselling book ‘The Rabbit Who Wants To Fall Asleep’.

As I’ve previously mentioned Bug is a little bookworm. He loves nothing more than snuggling up with a book, or a big pile of books as is often the case. As he loves books so much he always gets super excited when Little Tiger Press send him a book.

The latest book that arrived through the letter box for Bug from Little Tiger Press was a board book called Train!

Written by Judi Abbot the book Train! is an award winning title that has previously been available only in paperback, but by popular demand it is now available as a cute little board book.

It's Walter Under the Bridge - Book review.

Being a bookworm with a bookworm son who loves snuggling up on the sofa with his mama and reading lots of books together, when we were given the opportunity to review a new book I jumped at the chance.

It’s Walter Under the Bridge is an imaginative story book based on Whitney Bridge, an 18th Century toll bridge in Whitney-on-Wye, Hertfordshire which has been lovingly cared for since 2012 by Maggie Taylor and her husband Grahame Penny.  The historic toll bridge’s custodian Maggie inspired the book, with her imagination and ideas sparking the creation of this delightful story book for children which was creatively written by local author Dion Child and imaginatively illustrated by local artist Graeme Bowen.

“Legend has it that every bridge has a Troll living under it, but not many bridge owners have necessarily met theirs yet” –  Maggie Taylor, Whitney Bridge.

The story centres around Walter the troll.  Following an encounter with three very nasty trolls Walter sadly has to leave his comfortable home under a bridge and his animal friends to find a new home.  On his quest to find a new home Walter discovers Whitney Bridge, where he settles and makes his new home under the arches of the bridge.  As well as finding a new home under the arches of historic Whitney Bridge Walter also finds a new best friend in Chester the American Cocker Spaniel who lives at Whitney Bridge.

Charles Fuge's Wonderful Wildlife 123 book review - Book Buddies club.

I love books and have been a bookworm since I was a child.  As I love books and reading I want to share my passion for the written word with Bug and I am overjoyed that he seems to love books just as much as I do.

Bug is a little bookworm.  He loves snuggling on the sofa and reading books together, stories in bed for bedtimes are a must too. 

As Bug is becoming a keen little bookworm when we were offered the chance to join the Parragon Book Buddies review club I jumped at the chance of signing Bug up to be part of Book Buddies.

For Bug’s first Book Buddies venture he was sent ‘Charles Fuge’s Wonderful Wildlife 123’ book.

Charles Fuge’s Wonderful Wildlife 123 book is a paperback picture book aimed at preschool aged little ones.
