AD / GIFTED

One Hundred Steps: The Story of Captain Sir Tom Moore.

One Hundred Steps: The Story of Captain Sir Tom Moore (RRP £12.99) is a hardback, audio and ebook published by Puffin. Written by Captain Tom Moore and beautifully illustrated by Adam Larkum it is a wonderful book for young readers.

It tells the inspirational story of the man who walked 100 laps of his garden during the pandemic and captured the heart of a nation in unprecedented times.

One Hundred Steps is a heart-warming story about adventure, helping people, family and never giving up, exemplified by Captain Tom as he takes us on a journey through key moments in his incredible life! From his early childhood spent roaming the Yorkshire Moors, through to his service in World War Two, his huge Guinness World Record breaking achievement of raising the largest sum ever for an individual charity walk (over £39 million) and his subsequent Knighthood.

Captain Sir Tom said:

“When I was doing my walk, I had so many wonderful messages from young children telling me to keep going and doing their own challenges. They inspired me. The first step is always the hardest, but unless you take that first step, you’ll never finish. I hope that children love this book. I hope grandparents read it to them. I hope parents share the message with their children. With the future in their hands, tomorrow will be a good day.”

Full of positive messages, it’s the perfect story for parents and grandparents to give children hope this Christmas and also a lovely keepsake item to cherish to mark these extraordinary times! The book is full of the wisdom that Captain Sir Tom has gleaned over his one hundred years – that anyone can do or be anything they want, that we can achieve so much more when we come together, and that tomorrow will be a good day. Messages of hope that children, in fact, we all need, this Christmas.

To Baby, With Love books.

As we love books and enjoy imparting our love of the written word to our children both Lee and I are passionate about reading to and introducing books to little ones from a young age. Books are part of our daily life and were introduced to Bug and now Jelly Bean when only month’s old. From early on reading stories to our little ones became a lovely time for bonding and introducing them to books, words and stories.

Reading to Bug from when he was month’s old is something we have all enjoyed and now at nearly 5 he is a little bookworm. He still loves storytime with us and is relishing learning to read himself.

Now that we have a young baby in the house again our bookshelf is once again filling with baby books which sit nicely next to Bug’s books for pre-schoolers and young children.

Thanks to Little Tiger Press Jelly Bean has a lovely new set of baby books to fill his space on the bookshelf.

In February 2016 Little Tiger Press are publishing 4 new titles in the To Baby, With Love series – Wishes For Baby, Peekaboo Baby!, Hello Baby!, and Goodnight Baby!

Train! – Little Tiger Press book.

As I’ve previously mentioned Bug is a little bookworm. He loves nothing more than snuggling up with a book, or a big pile of books as is often the case. As he loves books so much he always gets super excited when Little Tiger Press send him a book.

The latest book that arrived through the letter box for Bug from Little Tiger Press was a board book called Train!

Written by Judi Abbot the book Train! is an award winning title that has previously been available only in paperback, but by popular demand it is now available as a cute little board book.

World Book Day 2015.

As Bug loves dressing up he has loved today when he dressed up to celebrate World Book Day.

He was over the moon about dressing up to go to school today, dressing up as his favourite character from his favourite book. For his school #WorldBookDay costume when the whole school embraced the wonderful world of books Bug decided to dress up as a cute little alien as a dedication to one of his favourite books “Aliens in Underpants Save the World”.

Halloween Books from Little Tiger Press.

At the grand old age of 3 and a half years Bug is starting to take notice of Halloween goodies in stores. Whilst Bug is a little fearful of the very scary Halloween decorations and outfits he loves the kiddy friendly and fun fancy dress outfits and decorations.  He is also taking a strong interest in the yummy Halloween themed treats that adorn the shelves in the shops.

With Bug starting to take more of an interest in the fun of Halloween and being a keen little bookworm he was delighted when Mr Postman recently arrived one morning with a couple of Halloween themed books that had swiftly made their way to us from Little Tiger Press.

The Quick - Lauren Owen #TheQuick @TheAegoliusClub

You are not yet permitted, reader, to know the secrets of The Quick.

For now, please make do with the following –

“You will travel to Victorian England, and there, in the wilds of Yorkshire, you will meet a brother and sister alone in the world, a pair bound by tragedy. You will, in time, enter the rooms of London’s mysterious Aegolius Club – a society of the richest, most ambitious men in England. And at some point, we cannot say when, a trapdoor will open, the contours of reality will change, and the secrets of The Quick will reveal themselves.”
