Dressing up is a common occurrence in our household. Bug needs no excuse to dress up and with his huge collection of fancy dress costumes, a big selection of which are superheroes, he is often in fancy dress. It is a common sight to see Bug strutting his stuff in Tesco as Batman or playing at the park as Captain America.

As we love fancy dress costumes, especially Bug who loves nothing more than dressing up as his favourite characters, we could not resist taking part in the Tickled Pink fancy dress challenge. We were challenged to take one of their fancy dress costumes and give it a Christmas twist.

With Star Wars being all the rage at the moment and talk of the playground Bug has declared himself a fan of Star Wars and Darth Vader as his favourite ‘bad guy’ in spite of having never seen Star Wars himself. As such we decided to get a Darth Vader costume from Tickled Pink.

I have fond memories of taking part in my school’s Christmas concerts as a child. I never had the starring role, which as a bit of a wallflower I was relieved about. Over the years I was Mrs Claus, the magic mirror in Snow White, the Star of Bethlehem and an Angel. I was very lucky that as my mum is a dab hand at sewing and costume making every year without fail she would make a costume for me and my sister from scratch.

Having admired my mum’s prowess at costume making I have always hoped to follow her footsteps and make my children their fancy dress costumes for school events and concerts. Last year for Bug’s Christmas concert along with World Book Day and the Barnardo’s Pirate Toddle Walk, I lived up to my hopes and make Bug costumes myself.

When school told us about Bug needing a donkey costume for this year’s Christmas costume I hoped to make it myself but thanks to us all being struck down with illness and a huge amount of other commitments to deal with making a costume was not going to be that possible. To make things a little easier and take the strain off I went on the search for a pre-made costume for Bug.

Thankfully Fun Warehouse came to my rescue with their Donkey costume.

As I’ve mentioned before Bug loves dressing up in fancy dress and LOVES superheroes. Loving both fancy dress and superheroes so very much, he loves it when he can combine both loves by dressing up as a superhero.

As Bug loves dressing up as a superhero, pretending he is that superhero and is saving the day he was over the moon when he was sent a new superhero fancy dress costume.

With Halloween on the horizon our thoughts have been focused on how to have a spooktacular night and bring the magic of Halloween alive for Bug.

As Bug loves dressing up he has loved today when he dressed up to celebrate World Book Day.

He was over the moon about dressing up to go to school today, dressing up as his favourite character from his favourite book. For his school #WorldBookDay costume when the whole school embraced the wonderful world of books Bug decided to dress up as a cute little alien as a dedication to one of his favourite books “Aliens in Underpants Save the World”.

Halloween fancy dress costumes.

Lee is like a big kid at the moment, getting all excited about dressing up for Halloween.  As well as wanting to dress up for our spooky Halloween party he is also dressing up for work as they are doing a week-long celebration for Halloween and all of the staff are dressing up in Halloween inspired fancy dress to wear whilst they serve the guests who come to enjoy the celebrations and activities being hosted at the holiday park’s pub.

Whilst browsing the internet for the perfect fancy dress costume to wear to celebrate Halloween this year Lee has found a number of costumes he loves and wants to buy to dress up this Halloween (and being the big kid he is I suspect to wear throughout the year too whenever the mood hits) on mrcostumes.com.
