Alder Hey Children’s Charity

Alder Hey Children’s Charity Ambassadors are children from all walks of life, who have been treated at Alder Hey or are a relative of a patient who has undergone treatment at our children’s hospital. Childhood should be filled with happiness, laughter and fun but when a child becomes ill, children often have to be brave and grow up quickly in order to deal with the difficult time in their life. At Alder Hey Children’s Charity we want to support all of the children who come through our doors. Everything we do is with our amazing Alder Hey patients and their families in mind.

Medical care - the good and the bad

Here in the UK we are blessed to have the NHS.

Personally I am extremely grateful and proud of the NHS. I take my hat off to NHS workers whose hard work and care in stretched circumstances make the NHS amazing.

I fear for the future for myself, my children and future generations if the NHS crumbles.

Without it health issues of my loved ones may have ended in a different story.

The worry of paying for medical care and treatment when ill or having experienced an accident is a daunting thought.

Holidaying at the hospital

News of Jelly Bean since his arrival has been ghostly sparse.

All intentions of writing updates about my beautiful baby and sharing his birth story has been overshadowed by fun and adventures with Bug and Jelly Bean over the school holidays along with health issues that poor Jelly Bean has been suffering with.

He was born healthy but has had a few little issues since then.

Hospital bag packing.

Now that I am in my third trimester it has become the inevitable time to think about packing my hospital bag with essentials for labour and with things needed for both myself and Jelly Bean after the birth.

When I had Bug I found that I ended up with what seemed a bazillion bags which weighed poor Lee down like a donkey on its last legs so this time round I wanted to limit myself to 2 bags - a labour bag and a bag for after the birth – at the most.

Thankfully Caboodle bags have come to my rescue with their Fun and Funky Mink Stars BabyChanging Bag which thanks to its impressive size is perfect as a hospital bag. As the bag holds so much it is perfect for holding all essentials needed in my hospital bag along with a few extras just in case our stay at the hospital is longer than hoped.
