Nesting instinct

#GIFTED
During the last few weeks of my most recent pregnancy my nesting instinct kicked in and I felt an overwhelming desire to get our home and family ready for the arrival of baby number three.

The nesting instinct had me wanting to prepare for my newborn and have our home clean and tidy so that it was a welcoming and safe environment that would help us protect our baby in a loving way.

I found myself giving the house a deep clean, getting all baby essentials organised, packing hospital bags with military precision and having a spring clean with items no longer used going to the charity shop. After noticing a few marks on one of the bedroom walls I even decided to re-decorate the whole room as the grubby looking paint was screaming at me every time I walked past it.

#GIFTED

As we await the arrival of baby number three to help the boys bond with baby and be excited about their little brother we’ve been looking for the perfect baby gift that they can give him.

However finding the perfect baby gift they can give him has been tricky. To help them feel like great big brothers giving their new little baby brother a lovely gift we wanted to find an original, practical gift that looks and feels special.

Thankfully The Baby Hamper Company came to the rescue.

Snuggle Seat - review

#AD #GIFTED
As we eagerly await the arrival of baby number 3 my nesting instincts have well and truly kicked it. Along with giving the house a good spring clean I have been getting all of the baby things out of storage and making room in our house for all the baby things. We have a bedside cot set up in our bedroom perfect for co-sleeping safely plus a baby bouncer chair and playmat as safe places to put baby down when not in the bedroom.

Whilst the playmat and baby bouncer chair are great as safe places to put baby down around home they only last a short while plus it is helpful to have a variety of safe, baby friendly options rather than be restricted to one place to let baby rest when not in the cot. Thankfully Snuggle Seat came to the rescue with a safe, baby friendly seat that provides long lasting use.

Test for Tommy - every newborn baby deserves the test that could help save their life.

Imagine if you were about to have a baby. Now imagine you’d heard that there was a test that could be carried out on all newborn babies – a quick, easy and painless test that could help detect potentially life-threatening heart disease. You’d want your baby to have that test, wouldn’t you?

Tiny Tickers, the baby heart charity, thinks so too and that’s why they have created their latest campaign, Test for Tommy. The campaign is named in memory of baby Tommy, who died from undiagnosed heart defect at eleven days old. And by ‘test’, they are referring to pulse oximetry testing.

Bringing your baby home from hospital.

Will it soon be time to bring your baby home from the hospital? Then read on for a few ways to make it as stress-free and manageable as possible.

Chat with the midwives and staff
If there is one group of people that will be able to answer pretty much all and any questions you have at this time, it is the maternity staff. The midwives, doctors, and staff spend their entire lives helping new mothers in just the same situation as you.

Use their wisdom and knowledge while you have access to it. No question is too minor or ‘too stupid’, and we promise they won’t laugh at you for asking it. Similarly, if you’re struggling with anything, let them know. It could be something big like if you are having trouble adjusting to breastfeeding. Or it could be something much smaller like you’re having trouble with the baby carrier straps! Get them involved and don’t expect to know everything.

Holidaying at the hospital

News of Jelly Bean since his arrival has been ghostly sparse.

All intentions of writing updates about my beautiful baby and sharing his birth story has been overshadowed by fun and adventures with Bug and Jelly Bean over the school holidays along with health issues that poor Jelly Bean has been suffering with.

He was born healthy but has had a few little issues since then.

Nesting and building a SnuzPod

As my pregnancy progressed and neared the end till the time I finally got to meet my new baby, my nesting instincts well and truly kicked in.

The house had been blitzed and had some major TLC.

Bug’s bedroom had been slowly transformed so that he has a big boy bedroom as a treat ready for when he becomes a big brother.

I had lovingly washed and tidied away the baby clothes and cloth nappies ready for Jelly Bean’s arrival.

I had been making my own babywearing wrap to add to my collection of babywearing wraps and carriers ready for snuggles and babywearing with my new baby.

We had been putting together Bug’s old baby swinging seat and playmats.

Lee had fitted the car seat base and seat in our car ready for when the day arrived when we got to bring Jelly Bean home for the beginning of family life as a family of 4.

We had been creating a space for Jelly Bean in our bedroom with The Little Green Sheep’s Dove Grey SnuzPod taking centre stage - much to my delight as a SnuzPod was one of my dream baby items.
