IMO Q4 Pro 2021 Smartphone review

AD / GIFTED

Over the past few years smartphones have very much become the norm and are now an integral part of daily, mainstream life.  In fact, as of August 2021 it is estimated that there are 53.58 million users of smartphones in the UK, making smartphones ever-present in the UK.

As smartphones have become more popular over the years, usage in the UK has increased across all age ranges since 2012. Noticeably there has been a significant rise in the usage of smartphones for the over 55’s and under 16’s.

With smartphones being intertwined with daily life, the desire to make use of the technology they provide and open up your world to the advantages of smartphone use such as better communication and accessibility to applications and information is something that affects people of different backgrounds and walks of life. Whilst smartphones are more available than ever, many smartphone brands come with expensive price tags or costly contracts. This can alienate those with restricted budgets.

Being a family on a tight budget with a pre-teen who is keen to get in on the smartphone action to keep in touch with friends and be contactable as he increases his independence away from family, we need a smartphone without the high-price.

Thankfully there is a mobile phone company who wants to help make smartphones accessible - IMO Mobile.

Xplora XGO2 children’s smartwatch review

GIFTED

A couple of years ago we bought our eldest son a basic, budget kids fitness tracker watch. He loved keeping track of his steps, challenging himself to beat his personal best, and it supported his learning of time thanks to being a standard watch too. However it has always been a little temperamental, being very awkward to charge and over the past few months the battery life and step counter has been unreliable and inaccurate. As we have been looking for a replacement for him we were keen to try out the Xplora XGO2 children’s smartwatch.

The XGO2 is an android smartwatch from renowned Norwegian smartwatch company Xplora. This multifunctional children’s smartwatch is a feature rich gadget and boasts a myriad of functions that are fun for children whilst also providing parents with peace of mind.

How to keep children safe online?

From the moment I found out I was pregnant I felt unconditional love for my children and a determination to give them a fantastic childhood. Being a parent means I do my utmost to care for and protect them. To give them a happy, stable and hopefully healthy life.

An underlying emotion connected to being a parent is worry. Worry that I am doing my best for them. Worry that they are happy. Worry that they are healthy. Worry that they will not come to harm. Worry that I can protect them from the bad of the world.

There is a lot to worry about when raising children.

Health risks of electronic screens

In the tech heavy, electronic fuelled world we live in electronic screens play a significant role in everyday life for most people. Whether for work or play electronic screens have become vital in our day to day life. Smartphones, tablets and laptops are devices that become integrated into our way of life.

They are a gateway to the world wide web, allowing us to have a wealth of information at our disposal at the touch of a button. They allow us to step out from the office and work on the go. They help us keep a finger on the pulse of news around the globe. They allow us to shop for anything and everything from the comfort of our own home. Whilst there are an array of benefits to be had from electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets, there are downsides too.

Modern technology plays an integral role in our lives, but so does money. If spending cash on those devices will disrupt happiness in other parts of your life, they are counterproductive. Therefore, you must make it your responsibility to find the right sense of balance.

My app usage - how does it compare to the App Map of Britain?

Like the majority of the UK my smartphone is filled with my apps that I use as part of my daily life. Thanks to storage issues juggling my favourite and most needed apps is a fine art. Moving some apps to my SD card gives me a little more room to have an extra app or two but thanks to a number of apps being programmed not to be suitable to move to external SD storage storage is extremely precious and as such app choices is a carefully considered matter.

Whilst I would love to download any and every app of use to me from the whopping 2.2million apps available to download on android, storage stops that from happening. When a new app enters my life if I cannot move it to external storage I have to decide what app to remove so the shiny new app can be downloaded. Choosing between favourite apps can be a difficult predicament.
