After
exploring the 18 th century house, walled gardens, grounds and lake atLlanerchaeron we visited the home farm there for Bug to complete his first 50Things To Do Before You’re 11 ¾ adventure; #23 Visit a farm from the Ranger
category of adventures.
The home
farm at Llanerchaeron has been resorted to its former glory with its impressive
range of traditional, atmospheric outbuildings now being used as a working
organic farm with Welsh Black cattle, Llanwenog sheep and rare Welsh pigs.
In the
stone cobbled farm courtyard we explored the stone outbuildings in the hope of
seeing some animals.
Bug was
first to spot an animal and started quacking away as he spotted a goose who was
sticking its head out from under the wooden stall.
Bug
thought it was very funny that the goose was sticking its head out and that it
was hissing at us when we went over to say hello.
After
noticing another goose across the courtyard doing the same things, poking its
orange beak and white head out under the stall we explored the rest of the
buildings in the hope of seeing some other farm animals.
He loved
the big pigs and did not want to leave them to go and explore the rest of the
farm, happy instead to move back and forth between the different stone
buildings to see the different pigs.
After many
oinks and lots of awwws we encouraged Bug to say goodbye to the pigs and piglets to go and explore the rest of the farm.
There were
numerous outbuildings that housed old farmyard machinery and wooden carts.
On the hunt for more farm animals we roamed the farm. Bug got very excited when he saw a flock of hens wandering loose on the farm.
As soon as Bug saw the hens the air was filled with happy clucks that emanated from my little farmer.

After seeing
the hens we came across some smaller birds in a coop that had beautiful brown
colourings. Bug being the friendly
little boy he is had to say hello to his new little feathered friends.
Unfortunately
we did not see the Welsh black cattle or speak to a farmer but Bug had a lovely
time and there is always next time to see the Welsh black cattle when we visit
Llaneraeron again to further explore the grounds, walks and lake, see the
cheeky sheep and cute pigs again and complete more 50 Things To Do Before You’re
11 ¾ adventures.
