Fun Ideas for Celebrating a Fiftieth Birthday Party

Over the hill birthday parties for people turning fifty have become a little bit of a cliché at this point. That leaves a lot of us planning milestone parties for our husbands, wives, friends, and family members at a bit of a loss. After all, for so long, we’ve relied on picking fun at a person’s age to guide our party themes.

However, you don’t have to fall victim to the cliché to still have fun with a fiftieth birthday. If someone has spent 50 great years on this earth, then that’s real cause for an amazing celebration, and you can still have tons of fun while being respectful too. Ideas to Celebrate Your 50th Birthday on a Cruise

Hitting your 50 is a major achievement and it calls for a grand celebration!

And what can be better for the Australians than celebrating this fantastic event on a cruise? In fact, birthday cruises are an excellent way of celebrating birthdays, rejoicing with your loved ones and having the time of your life.

Aside from the fact that celebrating your birthday on a cruise adds so much value and prestige to your event, the best thing about it is that you don’t have to spend hours and hours planning the event. You just have to gather some friends and show up yourself. For more details about cruise birthdays you can visit sydneyprincesscruises.com.au/party-cruises.

Birthday gift ideas for my birthday boy

It’s that time of year again. As we welcome Spring and enjoy the beauty and life that it brings with it along with upcoming Easter, my first born's birthday is fast approaching.

My beautiful boy who I remember as a little newborn as if it was yesterday, is going to be yet another year older!

He is growing up as a fun, caring, clever boy that the whole family loves and adores.

As his big birthday is imminent my thoughts of the past few weeks have been on what to get him for his birthday along with where to go for a special birthday day out. Now that he is that much older he has strong views on what he likes and wants, and has helped me out with a list of gift ideas with plenty of options so that he gets a surprise of what we get him from the list.

Birthday wish list.

This month is my birthday. In a matter of a couple of weeks I turn 32.

Whilst I love celebrating other people’s birthday’s I have never been that fussed about making a big deal of my own, especially as I shy away from the limelight…..the thought of a surprise birthday party with all eyes on me fills me with dread.

As such I am happy with a low-key birthday and don’t desire or expect a big fuss or lots of gifts. Even more so since becoming a parent. Since I joined the ‘mum club’ I would rather our money be spent on the kids rather than Lee and the boys spending money we cannot afford on things I don’t really need. Homemade cards and gifts me the world to me and I love to receive them.

Even though I love homemade gifts and don’t want the boys to spend much on me, as Bug has gotten older and noticed us buying gifts for others - I dread to think how many presents we’ve bought over the last few months for his friends when going to birthday parties - he has been expressing a wish to go shopping with his dad and little brother to buy me something special. I know how sweet and lucky I am to have such a thoughtful young boy?

1st Birthday gift ideas

With Jelly Bean turning 1 this month I have been scouring the internet for ideas of what birthday gifts to get to treat him to mark his first birthday. Whilst Jelly Bean is fortunate to be showered with toys handed down from Bug, and lots of other items in storage for when he gets older, as it is his 1st birthday I want to treat to him to a few special things that are not hand-me-downs. With that in mind here are a few of the things we have been thinking of getting Jelly Bean for his birthday -

SmarTrike
Top of the list to help Jelly Bean enjoy adventures outdoors in places such as the woods and parks is a SmarTrike. A super trike from top trike retailer SmarTrike would be a joy for Jelly Bean to ride on as we stroll around having fun as a family.

Gift giving made easy thanks to Find-a-present.uk

As someone who loves giving gifts to loved ones I always strive to give thoughtful gifts that the recipient will love. To find the 'perfect' gift I tend to start thinking well in advance of the occasion and spend a great deal of time looking for gift ideas until I find 'the one'.

Whilst I don't shy away from pricier gifts and tend to be generous when gift giving as a frugal shopper who loves a bargain I always shop around to get the best price and deal. Searching for the perfect gift and then shopping around to get the best price whilst worthwhile as I get to satisfy my bargain loving cravings and get to give my loved ones a lovely gift can be very time consuming.

Thankfully I’ve recently come across a great site that helps cut down the time getting gift ideas and finding a bargain.

Find-a-present.uk is a clever website that as the name describes is a site for finding presents. The site sources gift ideas from a large number of different online stores. The site is filled with lots and lots of items, with an awe-inspiring array of items covering a huge selection of categories such as toys, homeware, gadgets, personalised gifts and experiences.

Birthday gifts perfect for my 5 year old boy.

With Bug's birthday fast approaching in only a matter of weeks my thoughts have turned to what gifts to get him to celebrate the big day he turns 5.

Thankfully he has not reached the age where he is demanding one particular extra special thing that if he did not get his birthday would be ruined. He is quite an easy going child with a lot of different interests and a few predictable loves. To help us decide what to treat our boy to he has marked out a few toys and products in the catalogue which he would love.

As I have been delayed on present buying thanks to the sickness bug from school hitting the whole household hard, with poor Bug getting it a second time a week later thanks to the bug still circulating in school, I thought I would create a gift wish list for Bug's 5th birthday to help me decide what to get him.

Bug's Dream Easter Garden Party.

With Bug’s 5th birthday landing a couple of days after Easter this year we have been thinking about throwing him a Easter themed garden birthday party. As he loves playing outdoors and getting wild with his friends we thought it would be a funtastic birthday party that he is sure to enjoy and remember.

As we have been talking about him having a garden party for his birthday where hopefully the Easter bunny will visit with lots of Easter eggs for the kids to hunt for and find, Bug took it upon himself to give his a few hints about what outdoor toys should be at his party for it to be a totally awesome Easter party for his birthday.

5 last minute birthday gifts that don’t look last minute.

It’s a familiar story: you intend to be on the ball with all of your birthday gifts for the year and buy them well in advance, yet in reality you leave it until the very last minute and panic over what to buy and inevitably buying something boring and uninspired.  Well, if that sounds like you then here are 5 gifts that are easy to buy at the last minute but look like you’ve put a lot of care and thought into it…

Photo gifts
Any kind of photo gift screams thoughtful and personal, so is always a great choice.  You can buy a whole world of different products with your own photos on them.  You can go for a canvas to hang on the wall, personalised photo books or you can even buy phone cases and placemats emblazoned with whatever photos you desire.  “But that’s not a last minute gift!” I hear you cry.  Well, actually, it is.  Many photo gift retailers can do same day despatch, so you can get personalised mugs with next day delivery, or whatever other products you fancy.

Christmas drinks for a Christmas birthday bash.

In the midst of preparing for Christmas and enjoying the festive spirit in the run up to the big day my family and I have also been busy organising a big party to celebrate my mums 50th birthday which is a few days before Christmas.

With my mums birthday being so close to Christmas, only a matter of 3 days before Christmas, her big 50th birthday bash will be a 50th birthday party come Christmas party for her and her party guests to enjoy.

Thankfully as the whole family is involved in party planning for the party and organising all the details to make the party a success arranging the party has not been stressful.  Happily as the day of the birthday party is nearing ever so quickly most of the party details have been organised and finalised with only the last minute details to be dealt with on the day of the party.

As the party is happening in December and we are planning for the party to be a celebration of my mums 50th birthday and a celebration of Christmas the party will have a festive and wintery twist.  We are planning the party to have festive decorations adorning the venue and winter inspired food and drinks will feature at the party.  Whilst we may not have a white Christmas we are hoping that the festive decorations including a snow scene and snowmen and the wintery, festive food and drinks will help make the spirit of a White Christmas come alive at our 50th birthday/Christmas party.

Bouncing, Spinning Fun!!

One of the presents that Tristan got from mummy and daddy for his 1st birthday was a Fisher Price Bounce and Spin Zebra and he loves it!  He has a Fisher Price Rainforest Jumparoo and has loved that from the first day we got it for him and I hoped he would like the bounce and spin zebra too.  So far the cute little zebra is a huge hit too!!

Bye bye baby.

My little baby boy is no longer a baby, he is a little boy.  In fact he is now a 1 year old little boy.

We had a lovely day on Tristan’s first birthday.  He had some lovely presents and seemed a tad overwhelmed with his new toys.  I wanted to make an effort and bake him a birthday cake rather than just buy one and I made a big 1, with Happy Birthday and a number 1 candles and then small individual cakes that spelt TRISTAN.  It wasn’t the best cake in the world and my mum could have made something loads better as she is a brilliant cook but I wanted to make his first ever birthday cake myself.  Tristan’s Aunty Boo, my sister, came home for the day to visit little man on his big day and it was lovely seeing her as we don’t see her that often anymore as she has moved away.

I still can’t believe how fast the past year has gone; it only seems like yesterday that my little man was born.  I feel a little sad that my son is growing up so quickly but I am so proud of the amazing little boy he is.

Happy 6 Months Birthday Bug.

Today Bug is 6 months old :-)

Time seems to be going so quickly, it only feels like yesterday that I was still pregnant. But my little man is now 6 months old and changing so fast. He’s mastering new skills so quickly now. My little baby is growing up and is my cheeky little monkey with his own little character. These last 6 months have really flown by.

It seems so unreal at times that I am a mummy. Like a dream that I am sure to wake up from soon. I love him more than words could ever say and the joy he brings me is immense. I cherish every moment I have with him. I would do anything for him. He is my special little man.

Happy 6 Months Birthday Bug. I love you with all my heart Bug and adore being your mummy ♥
