How To Cope As A Family In A Car Accident?

The biggest job of parents is to ensure that our kids are provided with the best experiences in life. However, we also need to prepare to deal with days when our little ones have bad experiences. Car accidents are traumatic events that can leave lasting effects on anyone involved.

It can be difficult for kids to understand the event, manage their emotions and come to terms with the accident. This can be challenging for reasons based on their injuries and age, which may show you different reactions. Watching them anxious and scared can be a heartbreaking experience for any parent. For new parents, it may also be difficult to help them through this phase

Is it possible to sell a car on finance?

When you agree to take a car on finance, you are locked into a deal with the finance money and have agreed a specific period in which to pay them back. But have you ever considered trying to sell the vehicle you have on finance?

Unlike selling a car you own, selling a car on finance has a lot more legal implications as you are not the legal owner of the vehicle until you have paid the full amount of the car back. In this article, we’ll look at what car finance is and whether you can sell a on finance.

Advantages of car leasing

* Collaborative post

If you are looking at getting a new car but can’t afford to purchase a vehicle outright or are fed up with having an older car that requires lots of mechanical repairs then perhaps leasing a car is the perfect option for you.

What is car leasing?
Put simply leasing a car is a long term rental. When leasing a car you pay a fixed monthly fee to use the car for an agreed amount of time and number of miles.

Car safety maintenance for safe driving

I’ve been a driver for over 15 years. From when I got my provisional licence my grand-dad taught me basic car maintenance. I even learnt how to do a service on my classic-style Mexican VW Beetle such as doing oil and filter change. He always said it was vitally important to ensure your car was well maintained and safe to drive. His lessons and wise words have stayed with me ever since.

Now that I am a parent maintaining my car so that it is safe and sound and in good working condition for safe travelling is more important than ever.

With the nicer spring weather starting to make an appearance and summer ahead of us the roads are getting busier than ever. People are on their travels; whether it is for a great day out or to pop to the beach or on staycations around the UK. As we all hit the road for adventures having a car in good working condition can make the difference in keeping safe on the road.

Car safety guide

I have been a driver for nearly 15 years since I passed my test all those years ago when I was 17. Living in the countryside I was keen to pass my test as soon as possible so that I could give my mum a rest from being taxi and gain a little more independence. I worked hard to pay for my money to pay for lessons with a driving instructor and my theory and practical tests.

When I passed my test I could not wait to spend my hard earned money on a little car to call my own. All those years ago when buying cars along with making sure it was safe, mechanically secure and had MOT, my priorities were how the car looked, the car’s colour and whether it had a good stereo.

My first car was a lovely little Punto which served me well as a cheap, practical and reliable car. Whilst I loved the car and I did like how it looked, loved the colour - a deep red, and it had a smashing stereo installed it was not my dream car.

7 Car tyre checks for family safety on the road

There is nothing that is more important than maintaining the safety of your car and this is especially the case when you drive around with little ones on board. All sorts of drivers neglect their cars’ safety systems imagining that they don’t need to take any action. However, when it comes to your tyres nothing could be further from the truth.

Tyres are not just there to allow your car's wheels to turn. They help you to steer into positions of safety and avoid potential trouble. Of course, another important job tyres do is to help you brake properly. They shouldn’t be overlooked as an essential part of your family’s safety. What do you need to know? The 7 tips to help you buy your next family car

There are many purchases that become essential when it comes to having children. It’s amazing how the shopping list expands, and things you hadn’t even considered suddenly enter the fray. But one of the most significant purchases you can make as a young family is that of a new car. It is such a big part of family life that commonly we even take our car with us when we relocate. Thankfully if you need to move vehicles to go with your new life there are companies who move cars worry free, for more information click here. When it comes to buying a car, finding something that’s spacious, reliable, economical and, above all, good value for money is no easy thing, particularly when you consider the wider picture.

After all, it isn’t just about the cost price of the car. Running costs, insurance, servicing and depreciation are significant factors, and will use up a considerable amount of your budget. So the key is to get it just right. Many have a preference for buying new cars, with the guarantees and warranties that come with them firmly in mind. Yet while that is understandable, there is still good value to be had in the used-car market too.Whichever route you decide to go down, it’s vital to cover your bases, thus ensuring that the car you eventually choose is the right one for you. Here are some tips to help you get there.

1. Look at the one-year market
The downside to buying new cars, quite simply, is this: they plummet in value as soon as you drive them away for the first time. In fact, new cars lose up to 40 per cent of their value over the first 12 months. Certain brands hold their value better than others, but the bottom line is that you are dramatically slashing your upfront costs if you look within this particular niche – and should still be able to find something in great condition.

Dangerous drives

Driving is a lifeline to us. Living in rural Wales where public transport can be sporadic at best driving and having our own car means we can get anywhere and everywhere without hassle.

As the children are getting older the stereotype of parent being a taxi driver is coming true with us having to taxi them to friends parties, playdates, toddler groups and sports classes. Whilst having our own car is a blessing to be able to keep up with the kids’ busy social life as I am driving around precious cargo I make sure to be extra careful and vigilant when driving on dangerous roads.

Here in Wales driving can be rather hazardous. Small country roads can cause chaos and accidents galore. Whilst many roads travel through beautiful surroundings such roads that wind through magnificent mountains and small one-way country roads lead to idyllic beaches, the roads can be very dangerous to drive on especially during summer time when the roads get busier with holidaymakers who are unsure where they are driving and don’t know how to deal with the country roads!

The Creditplus family car survey.

Creditplus are a UK based car finance company that focuses on ethical lending and empowering customers with the information they need to make the finance choice that is right for them. Recent research showed that a large proportion of their customers were families. In a bid to find out more about what family’s want from cars, they asked me about my own driving experiences.

1) When you became pregnant, did you think about changing your car? If yes, what did you do? If no, why not?
Before falling pregnant I owed a beautiful Mexican VW Beetle. I loved it dearly; adoring its classic VW Beetle style, rockin' and beautifully noisy aircooled engine and its swiftness. My reliable Mexi-Bug was the car that Lee learnt to drive in when he moved down to live with me in the countryside in Wales from the city center of Leeds.

Keeping safe on the road – tyre safety.

As our family is growing with the impending arrival of our second child Jelly Bean due in July we recently decided to change our car, switching from a very compact car to a slightly larger car better suited for a growing family – a Ford Focus.

Whilst our new (second hand) car is nothing fancy having learnt a lot about car safety over my 13 years of being a driver – even learning how to do a basic service myself - I am passionate about making sure cars are safe and roadworthy.

The importance of making sure our car is roadworthy and safe is even more imperative now that I am a parent, not only because our children travel in the car but also because I don’t want to put myself or Lee at extra risk as I want us to be alive and healthy for many years to come for our children.

Whilst there are many factors that affect the safety and roadworthiness of a car, one car safety factor that is often overlooked is the importance of tyres.

Put simply tyres are essential for safe driving.

Tyres are the only connection your car has to the road.

They have 4 vital functions that affect safe driving –
* Provide grip for braking and acceleration
* Maintain steering and directional control
* Act as a shock absorber for vibrations from the road
* Support the weight of the car

Lottery win wishlist.

Like most people, I have dreamed about winning the lottery. Dreaming about what I would do if my numbers came in and I won big.

Whilst I may not play the lottery on a regular basis I do dabble every once in a while in the hope of having a little win, or even better a big win!

When I am feeling a little lucky I will pick up a lottery ticket whilst shopping or buy online lottery tickets, then cross my fingers and hope that lady luck is shining down on me and that my numbers come up.

Admittedly if we won BIG many of my spending dreams would be rather predictable ones such as going on a wonderful family holiday and buying a house. I’d also love to treat loved ones to things they desire the most. Putting money aside for our children’s future and a rainy day would also be top of the list if our numbers came in for a BIG win.

Whilst the idea of a BIG, life-changing win is a wonderful dream; I would be more than happy with a win of a few thousand pounds to help make life that little bit easier and enable us to get a few key things that we want most at the moment.

Trunki BoostAPak review.

Now that Bug is in school I have joined the crowds of parents on the school run dropping off and picking up their children every week day. Even though we have a car we rarely have access to it during the school run thanks to daddy needing it for work so we often have to walk to and from school.

Whilst it is lovely to walk to and from school Bug for the school run with Bug telling me all about his school day as we walk, I must admit I am not really looking forward to braving the weather when the rain and cold weather hits us during Autumn and Winter. Kindly we have been offered a lift from a fellow family who passes our home on the school run on a number of occasions but lacking a car seat for Bug we have had to decline the kind offer even when it has been raining and we have a long walk home to face. As it is unpractical to lug Bug’s large and heavy car seat to school to be able to get a lift home for now walking the school run is what we have to do come rain or shine.

But that is all about to change thanks to Trunki who came to the rescue with the chance to review the BoostAPak.

Trunki’s BoostAPak is a backpack and car booster seat combined.
