Strictly I'm A Big Celebrity Cash Cow....How much are celebs paid to appear on reality shows?

Over the past decade or so reality TV has become increasingly more popular. Now reality TV is a steadfast sight on TV channel schedules. You don’t have to look far to find a reality TV show to watch where you can view people dealing with certain situations or challenges, or follow the ‘characters’ of the show as they go about their ‘reality life’. With so many reality shows hitting our screens every year covering a whole host of genres and reality situations such as Big Brother, TOWIE, Hell’s Kitchen, and the X Factor to name but a few there is plenty of choice out there for people to get their fix of reality TV.

Tech Wish List for My Valentine.

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching thoughts often turn to what to gift to loved ones. Even though we do not really go all in for gift giving on Valentine’s Day, mostly due to lack of money, the day can be a good excuse to treat loved ones and show them how much you care with a gift they will love. As it is a rare occasion that I get to treat Lee, especially since becoming parents, and he has gifted me thoughtful and memorable gifts over the years such as writing me poems, gifting me beautiful jewellery and treating me to once in a lifetime days out, if money was no issue I would love to get him an extra special gift.

Lee is a bit of a tech geek so I would love to treat him to some tech I know he has been lusting after – yes Lee I do listen to and remember your hints about a Panasonic 4K TV. If I was lucky enough to stumble upon that money tree or find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow before Valentine’s Day here is what I would love to buy my Valentine –

Panasonic 4K TV
As a gamer, sports enthusiast and film fanatic Lee has nearly as good of a relationship with the TV as he does with me. Whilst our old TV does the job, as technology progresses and improves the lure of a new TV with better picture quality and improved features is strong.

Panasonic Smart Network HDD Recorder with Twin HD DMR-HWT250EB review.

Manufacturer’s Description: Enjoy a variety of content with this Freeview Play compatible Recorder. 4K Video Playback lets you play 4K content via a USB connection. Internet apps, such as those, for NETFLIX and amazon instant video are also supported. And TV Anywhere lets you watch and record programmes both at home and while you’re away.

I must admit I enjoy relaxing of an evening when the children are finally asleep and the mounting chores are ignored to watch my favourite shows. However with only a basic freeview box and no TV subscription services when busy life gets in the way so I don’t get to sit down to watch my shows I often miss them. Whilst I can at times catch up online on my laptop I can’t always rely on this as not all channels offer this catch-up service online. Another downside to basic freeview is that there is no guarantee that shows Bug likes will be on the TV when he is enjoying a bit of TV time after being busy and having adventures.

As it can be disappointing to miss my favourite shows I was keen to test out the Panasonic Smart Network HDD Recorder in the hope that it would be the solution to me missing my favourite shows and Bug’s disappointment at not getting to watch the children’s shows he wants when he wants.

Strictly Come Dancing - a little history of the show.

Whilst I cannot confess to being a die-hard Strictly Come Dancing fan or to watching the show religiously, I do enjoy watching the show every once in a while when I’m not busy catching up on household chores – oh the glamour!

Watching the show gives me a glimpse into a world of glamour where celebrities and their dance partners look amazing as they show off their moves showcasing different dances to the beat of the music.

I must admit I sometimes feel a hint of envy at all that glamour and the fabulous costumes as I watch sitting in my old but very comfortable PJ’s with my hair a mess and my face showing the signs of tiredness. Plus having no rhythm at all myself it is nice to watch people with talent amaze me with their wonderfully choreographed dance routines. I find myself imagining that in another universe where I had a touch of rhythm and talent that it was me up on the famous Strictly stage dancing away in an extraordinary costume (a sparkly one often features in my day dream).

TOMY Dinosaur Train Lights and Sounds and collectable dinosaur characters.

As Bug loves dinosaurs and trains it is no surprise that he loves Jim Henson's TV show Dinosaur Train.  His love of the hit Nick Jr show was sparked after we first climbed aboard the Dinosaur Train to watch a Dinosaur Train DVD and then later on reviewed the Dinosaur Train Spooky Adventures DVD.  Today at the grand old age of 3 the dinotastic show is one of dinosaur mad Bug’s favourite shows and he loves watching the show to see what his favourite Dinosaur Train character are up to and what adventures they embark on when they go on a trip on the magical Dinosaur Train.

Perfect for pre-schoolers fascinated with both dinosaurs and trains, Dinosaur Train with its wonderful world of adventure and fun is aimed at children aged 3-6 years old.  Set in the realistic prehistoric world little viewers get to witness natural history with swamps, jungles, oceans and active volcanoes making for magnificent backgrounds as an array of dinosaur species and other animal life is introduced to them in this colourful animation.  Created with the help of palaeontologists, science teachers and early childhood education experts, the show encourages basic scientific thinking skills as children are introduced to and taught about life science, natural history and palaeontology in a fun way.

I Can't Sing! The X Factor Musical.

X Factor is a bit like marmite, people either love it or hate it.  Lee definitely lands in the ‘love it’ group and loves watching X Factor.  As an X Factor fan he makes sure it is on record to watch when he gets home from work so that he does not miss a single moment of the X Factor action.

I had never watched X Factor until a few years ago when Lee introduced me to the show after we started dating.  Whilst I am not a huge fan like Lee and would not be overly bothered if I missed a show I do enjoy watching it especially when I get a chance to watch it with Lee and snuggle up on the sofa together.

We love snuggling up on the sofa and having a good old giggle watching the people who come to audition for the show who genuinely can’t sing and then watching our favourite contestant’s progress through the show, hoping that they have the X Factor and win the show.

Now in its 10th series, the X Factor is being highlighted in brand new musical comedy stage show; The X Factor Musical…. I Can’t Sing!

Are cartoons bad??

I read the other day an article on yahoo by TheFamilyGP.com that discussed ‘Are cartoons a bad influence on children?’ which got me thinking about what cartoons Tristan will grow up watching and are they good for him to watch.  Being a parent there are so many decisions about what to do for the best for your child/children and it seems even cartoons and their merits and influences both negative and positive have to be considered.
