Park play on sunny school days.

One of the benefits of Bug starting school part time during the summer term of school is that thanks to the warm summer evenings he can enjoy playing in the park after school in the warm sunshine. 

Nearly every day for the past fortnight we have enjoyed playing in the park after school, playing football, running around and rolling down big hills as well as having fun on the swings and slides.  

Another bonus of the summer days is that many likeminded parents have been making the most of the long, sunny evenings by popping to the park after school too, which has been exciting for Bug’s as he has been able to play with a number of his new school friends at the park..........playing with his school friends is a lot more fun that playing with his old mum.

Before we moved whilst we had the joys of lots of countryside all around us for miles to see we were miles away from any park which meant that visits to the park were few and far between.  Since we have moved one of the benefits of living in a town is that we are within walking distance of parks and visits to the park happen numerous times a week much to Bug’s enjoyment.

This weekend we took advantage of having parks within walking distance and in the midst of a little sunshine we took a stroll into town and to one of the local parks for Bug to play and burn off some much needed energy.

Conquering a new Castle.

I love days out with Bug.  Whilst children themed play places and attractions are fun and exciting, my favourite days out with Bug have been day's spent in the great outdoors and enjoying nature at its best as well as trips to visit beaches, time at National Trust properties and historic attractions.

As Bug used to love conquering Cilgerran Castle before we moved I thought it was about time he conquered a new Castle now that we live further afield from his beloved Cilgerran Castle.

With that in mind this past half term we took a walk to the Castle in town and enjoyed a peaceful afternoon exploring Haverfordwest Castle with the sunshine showcasing the castle beautifully in all of its glory.

Rainy day adventure at the beach.

This past bank holiday Monday was a wash out for us.  Over the bank holiday weekend we had lots of dry, sunny weather on the Saturday and Sunday and then on Monday the rain made an appearance. 

With Lee busy working on the weekend Bug and I were stuck at home.  We made the most of the lovely weather playing outside in the garden and in the surrounding countryside.  We had fun playing with his car and slide and went on a little adventure hunting for interesting bugs and creatures.

As Bug loves messy play and the great outdoors he loved combining the both and getting messy outdoors when we went on a lovely country walk in the sun on the bank holiday Monday at the start of May.

Bug took his Smart Trike ride on with him on our little walk and was happily scooting along.

His scooting soon came to a stop when he came across a muddy puddle.  Bug being Bug he could not resist the temptation of having a little jump in the puddle.

Country Kids - Making Memories

I have lived in the country all of my life and grew up playing outdoors, enjoying the countryside on my doorstep.  My grandparents had a farm, which we lived on for a great chunk of my life and when we moved it was only a few miles away and we still spent a huge amount of time on the farm.  I have fond memories of playing outdoors; picking blackberries on the farm, climbing trees and making dens in the woods, building sandcastles on the beach and swimming in the sea, making mud pies, sledging in the snow….so many memories that I treasure.
