8 Ways To Fight Frequent Hot Flashes

Menopause is a time during a woman’s life when she stops experiencing her menstrual periods. Common symptoms during this significant milestone include hot flashes and increased sweating at night. Research reveals that a lack of estrogen hampers the body’s ability to maintain optimal temperature.

Even though hot flashes occur mainly in women, it is not uncommon for trans women to experience similar symptoms since their hormones fluctuate. If you have ever experienced hot flashes, you can confirm how uncomfortable the experience is.

Perifit pelvic floor trainer review

AD|GIFTED

When I was pregnant with my first child one of the pieces of advice I was given from midwives and mum’s in the know was to do my pelvic floor exercises.

Whilst the advice was wise and I made sure to religiously exercise my pelvic floor after having my son I joined the club of mum’s who can’t  jump on a trampoline without a little leakage happening and have to to cross their legs before sneezing.

In spite of regularly doing my pelvic floor exercises, trying Kegel pelvic exercise weights and looking at natural remedies for urinary continence after two children my pelvic floor has never quite been the same as pre-children. Whilst I thankfully only suffer from mild incontinence, as I would like improve it so that I don’t have to worry when sneezing I am always looking for ways to strengthen my pelvic floor.

As a sufferer of urinary incontinence and because there is sadly still a taboo surrounding the condition I am always keen to highlight urinary incontinence and products to help.

Perifit
Perifit is a kegel exerciser with app that is designed to help users strengthen their pelvic floor. As the creators of Perifit believe that your pelvic floor is a priority they designed the Perifit device and app to help heal the pelvic floor.

Urinary incontinence

Even though we live in a world with a generation of people that are more open and outspoken than ever there with more and more issues being spoken about everyday compared to previous decades there are still a number of topics that tend to fall in the taboo category.

Unfortunately many health issues seem to still have a taboo tag. Embarrassment, worry and a belief that it is unseemly to talk about certain issues prevents the taboo surrounding certain health issues being abolished.

One health issue that is sadly still a taboo subject and rarely spoken about is urinary incontinence.

Pregnancy incontinence

Pregnancy can be a joyous, exciting experience. There really is nothing quite like feeling your baby move and kick inside of you. A woman’s body growing a baby is a truly beautiful, wonderous thing.

Pregnancy can also have some difficult physical side effects. Morning sickness or for some unfortunate women hyperemesis gravidarum, constipation, sore breasts, bad back and yeast infections are just a handful of physical issues that can plague pregnant women. Another health issue that is often common in pregnancy and after birth is incontinence.

Vitamin supplements when trying to conceive

For many years before meeting Lee all I dreamed and hoped for was to find my true love and settle down and have a family. Whilst I tried to keep the faith and believe that it would happen at the back of my mind was a lot of doubt. Worry that I would not find someone to love and who would love me for who I am in return. Fear that when I found my partner for life that I would not be able to conceive.

My fear about not being able to conceive stemmed from the fact that I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) when I was a teenager.

As PCOS can cause fertility issues and infertility, when I met Lee and it was apparent that we both wanted the same thing in life - to settle down and have our own family - I decided to get conception advice from my GP and do my upmost to be healthy to increase my chances of conceiving. Alongside healthy eating and exercise part of my trying to conceive plan was to take specially formulated pre-pregnancy vitamin supplements.

5 Ways egg freezing can change your life

Thanks to modern technology, women do not always have to accept Mother Nature’s schedule to start a family. You now have a choice and control over when you have a baby. For many women, egg freezing gives them the opportunity to become a mother later in life.

It is important for women to fully understand the cost of freezing your eggs, the expectations involved with the procedure, and the emotional and physical challenges that go hand-in-hand with the vitrification process.

Information is knowledge and knowledge is power; by researching how egg freezing can change your life, you are stepping through a door to an amazing opportunity.

Nobody knows what is around that next corner or what curve balls life may throw your way. When it comes to ensuring that you can have a baby when you are ready, keeping that door open is paramount. It is best to start with the facts of the egg freezing process before making any decisions, but once you feel knowledgeable enough, try to figure out what is important to you in life and determine if preserving your fertility is the right choice for you.

Win a set of Kegel Pelvic Exercise Weights from JD Harris.

Whilst pregnant for a second time with Jelly Bean, the importance of pelvic floor exercises has once again come into the forefront with the midwives kindly reminding me of the significance of strengthening those vital muscles.

After I was pregnant the first time round with Bug, in spite of religiously doing my pelvic floor exercises I saw little benefit and my pelvic floor was not as strong as they had once been.

As my pelvic floor muscles are far from being as strong as they once were and are under strain in my second pregnancy, with me being very nervous of laughing too hard, coughing or sneezing during my pregnancy with Jelly Bean I have been looking into effective ways to strengthen my pelvic floor muscles so that I regain those strong pelvic muscles.

Thanks to JD Harris I think I may have found the help needed to strengthen my pelvic floor muscles so that I can hopefully laugh, sneeze and cough without being terrified of having an accident.

5 reasons granny pants are the best - #NationalBVDay

Believe it or not, granny pants are going through a bit of a revival. What was that? A collective sigh of relief from the female population? Probably. But it is true, in fact the latest figures show sales of high cut, full coverage briefs doubled in 2013, and that trend is expected to continue this year too.

Forget Bridget Jones, you don’t need to be curvy, single or incredibly klutzy to enjoy the pleasures of the full coverage pantie. There really are lots of reasons we should all be investing in granny pants right now. Here are just five of those reasons to start your conversion to the world of big pants.

1. No inadvertent wedgies.
Whilst there may be some ladies out there who truly do love their thong, how many of us actually find them to be a pain in the butt – literally? That terrible sinking feeling when you’re in a very public place and the back of your thong disappears between your cheeks can be no more, thanks to the granny pant. Designed to stay where you put them, this is one piece of underwear guaranteed to come with no nasty surprises.

2. Comfy cotton.
Some days we feel like a bit of luxurious lace, others some slinky satin. But when it comes down to it, nothing feels quite a soft, cool and comfortable as plain old 100% cotton underwear, a speciality of the granny pant. And because of this, there is less chance of developing conditions such as thrush or bacterial vaginosis (BV). Put simply, BV is an imbalance in your pH levels caused by everyday things like excessive washing, perfumed products, antibiotics, your period and even semen. BV is a vaginal condition which can make your nether regions smell like a fish market, and is made worse by wearing underwear with unbreathable materials such as polyester and nylon.

Bacterial Vaginosis Awareness - April 16th #NationalBVDay

Bacterial Vaginosis and Pregnancy #NationalBVDay

Have you heard of Bacterial Vaginosis (BV)?  Would you recognise the symptoms?  Don’t worry, you’re not alone if you haven’t heard of BV.

One in three women will suffer from BV, making it the UK’s most common vaginal condition and yet a surprising 61% of women have never heard of or are unsure of the symptoms of BV according to a recent online survey and 2 out of 3 women misdiagnose BV as Thrush.

Bacterial Vaginosis…. do you know the facts? #NationalBVDay

It’s not something women often talk about; anything to do with downstairs is often a top secret topic... And yet, all women have a vagina.  That’s right, we said it, vagina.

It would seem that women’s intimate health is a secretive topic with over a third of women admitting they would feel more comfortable getting health advice online and a fifth saying they were too embarrassed to speak to a GP.

So, have you ever heard of BV?  Or, more to the point, have you ever had Bacterial Vaginosis?  Don’t worry – you’re not alone.  Over 61% of women in the UK are not aware of this common and easily treatable condition, and yet it is the most usual cause of abnormal vaginal discharge.
